Our Mestizo Mexico: Out with the Traumas!
In his latest blog post, Carlos Brito opens up a necessary conversation about Mexican identity, history, and the scars left by the Conquest 500 years ago.
Following recent political debates that attempt to romanticize colonization, Brito argues that it's time for Mexico to move past historical traumas and embrace its true identity: a vibrant, inseparable blend of both Mesoamerican and Hispanic worlds—the México mestizo.
But healing the past also means taking responsibility for the present. The article sheds light on a crucial pending task: historical justice, classism, and the reality facing indigenous communities today.

While our students dive deep into the nuances of Spanish grammar and the intricate layers of Mexican history, we also recognize the importance of hitting the “pause” button. One of our favorite ways to do this is by taking a trip to one of Morelos’ most stunning natural treasures: Las Estacas.

Think you know Cinco de Mayo? Think again!
Happy May 5th! While today is often synonymous with parties and margaritas, the real story behind the Batalla de Puebla is a fascinating tale of courage against the odds.
Did you know that in most of Mexico, today is actually a quiet, normal Tuesday? (Not Taco Tuesday!) Or that the celebration’s popularity in the U.S. might actually be linked to the American Civil War? 🧐
We’re breaking down the history, the myths, and the local traditions of Puebla in our latest blog post. Discover why this "local" holiday became a global phenomenon and learn the difference between a regional victory and national independence.
