At cmsp, collaboration is an important part of a child's development. Through collaborative play, children learn to work together, respect one another, communicate effectively, and develop strong social skills.

Beginning around age two, children start engaging in activities that encourage them to solve problems and reach shared goals. Unlike competitive play, collaborative play allows everyone to succeed together, fostering teamwork, empathy, and a sense of community.

The Montessori work cycle is one of the most important elements of Montessori education. During this uninterrupted period, children choose activities that interest them, work at their own pace, and repeat tasks as needed.

Through this process, they develop concentration, independence, self-discipline, and problem-solving skills while building confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

Last Friday, we had a wonderful time celebrating the fathers in our community with our Xtreme Rally!

Thank you to all the dads who joined us, participated with enthusiasm, and shared a special afternoon with their children. Your presence, energy, and support made the celebration truly memorable.

As Pam Brown beautifully said, "Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song." Thank you for the invaluable role you play in the lives of your children and in our school community.

Fostering a love of reading in the early years gives children essential tools for lifelong learning and success. At cmsp, reading is nurtured not only as an academic skill but as a source of curiosity, discovery, and enjoyment.

Strong reading habits support academic achievement, strengthen critical thinking and creativity, and help children develop empathy by exploring different perspectives and experiences. Through reading, children broaden their understanding of the world, gain appreciation for diverse cultures, and build the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

When children begin to internalize the foundations of Practical Life, they naturally seek greater responsibility. Preparing and serving snacks or meals allows them to contribute to their classroom community.

In Montessori, food preparation is also an opportunity to share with others. As children prepare food for their classmates, they develop cooperation, responsibility, generosity, and a sense of belonging within the community.

Why choose Montessori education for your child?

Montessori education is designed to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. It encourages children to become capable, confident, and compassionate individuals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.

Dr. Maria Montessori believed in the transformative power of education and championed the rights and potential of every child. Her approach continues to inspire a lifelong love of learning, independence, and respect for others.

We begin the study of geography by introducing children to the Sandpaper Globe, helping them understand the concepts of land and water. As their knowledge grows, they transition to the Montessori Puzzle Maps, making the connection between the globe and a map.

Through exploring the continents with these materials, children develop a deeper understanding of the world and how maps help us represent and navigate our planet.

In Montessori, art is not viewed as a separate subject or a prescribed project, but as a natural part of a child’s development. Through carefully prepared activities, children refine their senses, strengthen coordination, and express their creativity.

Whether tracing, shading, filling shapes, or creating patterns, children are developing concentration, purposeful movement, and artistic expression. These experiences nurture both the creative spirit and the skills that support learning across all areas of development.

In the Montessori Elementary classroom, we nurture the development of the mathematical mind through order, concentration, repetition, and exactness. Dr. Montessori described the mathematical mind as the human tendency to think with precision, reason, and imagination.

As children work with Montessori materials, they gradually move from concrete experiences to abstraction, building a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and confidence in their ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
