at 6 pm
at Azul Arena Gallery:
Bolivia 246, Romero Party
Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico
Sedimento: Variaciones de Materia y Memoria is the solo exhibit of ceramic sculptor Israel Gómez Mares.
DoArt Metals Professor Jess Jess Ica Tolbert has been working with Juárez artist Israel Gómez Mares for the past year on curating this exciting project and would love if you could attend!
Sedimento: Variaciones de Materia y Memoria, by the Juarense artist Israel Gómez Mares, curated by Jess Tolbert.
Just as geological sediments build up gradually, preserving the residues of past events, materials, and experiences, Sedimento explores the process by which meaning, memory, and matter settle, transform, and endure. The work of Israel Gómez Mares engages with sediment as both a physical and metaphorical presence, reflecting his continued exploration of how layers of identity, landscape, and memory accumulate and shape one another over time.
The exhibit will be on view until March 2025.

‘Not for Sale’
A preview exhibition for Las Artistas Art & Fine Craft Show
The Advanced Metals class has spent the semester creating the jewelry and small objects you see here, with a particular focus on construction, fabrication, and production-style techniques.
Each student began with a design concept covering form, surface, material, and technique, which was then applied to create a limited-edition series for the annual Las Artistas Show on November 23 & 24 at the Epic Railyard Center.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of UTEP Metals students participating in the Las Artistas show, always a highly anticipated event! To share their work with the DoART community, students created this preview exhibition. All pieces on display, along with the full series, will be available at the show, and some students are offering additional pieces for pre-order here in The Glass Gallery. Scan the QR codes where you find highlighted numbers to order.
Thank you for coming & we hope to see you at Las Artistas!
November 23 from 10-5 pm
November 24 from 10-4 pm
At Epic Railyard Center
Special thanks to Gilberto Seanez for graphic design, Kenny Rios-Enriquez for photography, editing, and installation, Ana Montes for promotion and installation, Flor Fabela for logistics, and Erika Lopez for promotion.
