The Lengua Inglesa major (Bachelor of Arts in English language) is one of the programs that operate at the School of Philosophy and Letters in Chihuahua. It’s aimed at preparing professionals of the English Language that will work as teachers of English and/or as translators, among other areas related to English.

The students of LI are provided with a substantial background in many aspects of la

nguage, including language teaching and language acquisition. Literature, TESOL, linguistics, research, and creative writing courses are also part of the program and are aimed at strengthening the students' cultural knowledge of the English speaking communities.

Translation courses prepare students to work as translators in a variety of settings: scientific, technical, legal, literary texts, etc. Students are expected to gain mastery in translation and as interpreters.

The courses in LI are taught in English, thus in order to be accepted in the major, prospective students are required to have a level of proficiency from intermediate to advanced (at least B1 according to the CEFR).
