Are you aware how Cultural Humility is undermining your authority as a WOC in Executive & Emerging Leadership? 👇🏽
For women of color in executive roles, cultural humility can manifest in ways that subtly (or explicitly) undermine your authority, impact, and career progression.
➡️ Do you feel the need to work twice as hard to validate your expertise, even when your qualifications & experience speak for themselves?
➡️ Are you deferring to others because you feel you feel you “don’t have enough “expertise?”
➡️ Are you struggling to take credit for success, often redirecting praise to the team or downplaying individual contributions?
All of this is what’s keeping you unseen and invisible. You are hiding your talents & diminishing your authority, and naturally, others are seen as more assertive leaders.
Cultural humility is helpful as a concept in Liberatory Leadership but it is NOT to be applied equally across identities. As a woman of color, staying humble harms you while allowing for others with less knowledge to receive all the visibility & praise.

❓What needs mending in your leadership?
Leadership can often be a lonely road. It doesn’t come with a manual and we often find ourselves not knowing whether we are “doing it right.”
➡️ Leaders are expected to “have the answers”, to “lead the way” and can often feel the weight of it all, finding themselves in an impossible place of indecision and trepidation., and inevitable exhaustion. Add to that the expectations of others & it can feel like A LOT.
How can leaders begin to dream into new possibilities for themselves?❓
➡️ It starts with the Mending Process. It starts by mending our relationship with our own leadership by entering into a process of Self Repair... one in which we see all parts of ourselves clearly, with compassion and care, and then allow ourselves to move from “what is” to “what could be....”
We’re in a critical time where we need leaders to undergo their own mending process so that they can fully see themselves & be able to fully see others.
