Legend has it that the island’s caretaker, Don Julián, hung dolls everywhere to ward off the spirit of a young girl he believed had drowned there. Now, thousands of dolls, with missing eyes, limbs, and eerie expressions, cover the island, adding to its ghostly vibe! 🌕✨
Visitors come from all over to see the dolls, some even bringing their own to “appease the spirits.”

What's the difference between "ser" and "estar"? 🤔
Do you ever get confused about when to use "ser" and "estar"? 🤷♂️ Both verbs mean "to be," but they’re used in different situations.
📝 I break it down for you on this post:
🔹 SER - Permanent, unchanging, or defining characteristics:
▫️Identity (Yo soy Ana/I am Ana)
▫️Occupation (Él es profesor/He is a profesor)
▫️Time/Date (Hoy es lunes/Today is Monday)
▫️Origin (Somos de México/We are from Mexico)
🔹 ESTAR - Temporary states, locations, or emotions:

It's a well-documented phenomenon. The city is sinking because it was built on a former lakebed—Lake Texcoco—which was drained by the Spanish during colonization.
Also, the city draws heavily on underground aquifers to supply its water, and as water is extracted, the ground becomes less stable. The withdrawal of water causes the clay-rich soil beneath the city to compress, leading to further subsidence.
Many buildings in Mexico City are tilted or cracked due to uneven sinking. Streets, pipelines, and other infrastructure have also experienced damage.
For example, the Palacio de Bellas Artes has sunk several meters since it was constructed. Older buildings like the Metropolitan Cathedral show visible signs of sinking and have been undergoing preservation efforts. Over decades, geodetic surveys have shown that parts of Mexico City are sinking, with some areas subsiding at rates of up to 50 cm/year.
