Once a school district asked me to work with a special education boy that was 12 years old and very violent. This was to be done in a one on one classroom with the windows boarded up so he could not brake them. The classroom had mats on the floor and two chairs, one for him and one for me. A police officer brought him to the classroom 15 minutes after all the other students were in their rooms.
His only method of communication was through violence. At one point in time we got to a level where he actually had a verbal conversation with me that was non-threatening.
He asked me why I was there. What was in it for me. I explained to him that my belief was each and ever person on earth was here for a reason and had a purpose. I further explained that I thought that while were were here on this earth we were to learn to accept ourselves and others and that between finding our reason and purpose in life and accepting others = we also were to enjoy ourselves doing it.
I explained that I did not think that he was enjoying his stay here on earth, that he was not accepting himself or others and was lost in discovering his purpose in life. There were things that I could teach him to understand how to do this.
He told me that he was just a little kid, only 12 years old. All he wanted in life was for someone to love him and to take care of him.
