The Colegio de Axixic stands with Ukrainians.
I was reading "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience” by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and found this quote which describes perfectly what I aim for when coaching my students to talk in the new language.
"Enjoyment appears at the boundary between boredom and anxiety, when the challenges are just balanced with the person’s capacity to act."
It’s that perfect balance which makes teaching languages such a rewarding experience.
The Colegio de Axixic Returns to In-Person Spanish Classes
Starting August 25th the Colegio de Axixic will return to in-person classes. The staff that is vaccinated will welcome those students who are also vaccinated, and those who have not been vaccinated can choose to continue online classes.
Most of the students have had the opportunity to get vaccinated either in Mexico or the United States or Canada, and the experience of learning in-person is something we have all missed.
I am truly grateful to those students who continued to learn from home, not only improving their skills, but also allowing us to stay open and to survive. !Gracias de corazón!
I look forward to seeing all my “old” students and welcoming the new students who will find that….you’ll be speaking Spanish before you know it!

Great article on how to learn and to remember what you learned.
How to Learn New Things as an Adult A new book explores the psychology of mastering skills and absorbing information
My students are doing very well under the difficult conditions keeping us all home and online.
Not only do I see significant progress in fluency, but also in writing.
From Harry McFadden: “With these lessons, I think I have finally learned how to write directly in Spanish instead of in English and then translating. In addition to learning how to understand as I read.”
I am constantly learning from my students and applying that knowledge to improve the course.
Gracias !!!

I took traditional Spanish lessons for over 10 years and while I did learn grammar and verb conjugation, I did not gain speaking confidence or listening comprehension. Lina’s methods concentrate on these two skills. During the current virus crisis, I have continued classes with Lina on line. Lina’s education program works very well using FaceTime. The format is the same as in person starting with a general conversation and then oral reading and comprehension. It is almost the same as being with her in person. Lina is an exceptional teacher, keeping her students challenged regardless of the format. She is a breath of fresh air.
