• Position: Caregiver
• Responsible to: The Head of Nursery Section

Qualifications and Requirements
• Should have a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)

Vac. No. ZBPS/2/24: Head Teacher
Responsible to: The Board Chairperson Duty Station: Zomba City
Number of Posts: 1

Job purpose
The head teacher shall be responsible for the internal organization, management and control of the Zomba Baptist Schools which comprise day care, nursery and primary.

Key duties and responsibilities
The teacher shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
a. Providing professional vision and leadership for the school which secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all its pupils and improved standards of learning and achievement;
b. Providing strategic direction and development of the school (providing educational vision and direction to secure the strong and passionate commitment of staff, parents/carers and pupils);
c. Deploying and managing all teaching and non-teaching staff of the school and allocating particular duties to them (including such duties of the head teacher as may be properly delegated to a deputy head teacher or other member of staff) in a manner consistent with their conditions of employment, maintaining a reasonable balance of workload;
d. Ensuring that the duty of providing cover for absent teachers is shared equitably among all teachers in the school (including the head teacher), taking account of their teaching and other duties;
e. Ensuring that teachers at the school receive information they need to carry out their professional duties effectively;
f. Challenging underperformance at all levels and putting in place effective procedures to deal with underperforming staff;
g. Making arrangements for the security, maintenance, development and effective supervision of the school buildings and their contents and of the school grounds, and ensuring (if so required) that any lack of maintenance is promptly reported to the maintaining authority or, if appropriate, the governing body;
h. Any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Board.
Minimum qualifications and experience
The applicant must possess:
a. T2 Certificate plus five years’ experience in teaching at a credible school
b. A good Malawi School Certificate of Education
c. Those with experience in a similar post or higher qualifications relevant to teaching will have an added advantage
Key competencies and attributes
The ideal applicant must:
a) Have high administrative and managerial skills;
b) Be mature, with sober behaviour and high level of integrity;
c) Have good command of English language (both written and spoken);
d) Be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision;
e) Be motivated and able to complete tasks in required time
f) Have strong interpersonal skills;
g) Be computer literate, familiar with MS Office package.

Contract Period and Remuneration package
The successful candidates shall be offered a renewable three-year contract with a competitive remuneration package commensurate with their qualifications and experience.

- Providing accounting and clerical support to the management
- Accurately prepare and maintain accounting documents and records
- Preparing bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
- Reconciling accounts in a timely manner
- Entering key data of financial transactions in database on a daily basis
- Providing assistance and support to organization personnel
- Researching, tracking, and restoring accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
- Informing management and compiling reports/ summaries on activity areas
- Functioning in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
- Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or Accounts Payable Clerk
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, databases and Accounting software
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Well organized
- At least a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credit in Mathematics and English
- Minimum of certificate in Financial Accounting (CIFA)
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
