2024/2025 MATURE ENTRY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR A BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) AT DOMASI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Domasi College of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Education invites applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into a two-year face-to-face mature entry degree programme for the 2024/25 academic year.

1. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
Interested applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

a) Possess a Diploma in Education (secondary) with credit or distinction obtained from Domasi College of Education or any other accredited institution of higher learning; Those with a strong pass (An average of 55 and above or a CGPA of 2.5 above) will also be considered for the programme.

b) MUST provide evidence that they had undergone a twelve (12) week teaching practice session after the content work during their Diploma in Education studies.

c) MUST also meet the additional entry requirements for each programme as outlined below.

d) Teachers serving in public schools MUST have a minimum of 4 years teaching experience after qualifying at diploma in Education level.

2. PROGRAMMES

a) Bachelor of Education (Sciences)
Applicants must have specialized in two relevant science subjects at diploma level. Subject combinations for this programme are as follows: Mathematics and Biology;
Mathematics and Physics; Mathematics and Chemistry; Mathematics and Agriculture; Biology and Agriculture; Human Ecology and Mathematics; Biology and Human Ecology; Agriculture and Human Ecology. Those with Physical Science at Diploma level will be allowed to go for Physics or Chemistry.

b) Bachelor of Education (Language and Communication)
Applicants must have specialized in two relevant language subjects at diploma level. Subject combinations for this programme are as follows: English and Linguistics and African Languages; English and French.

c) Bachelor of Education (Social Sciences)

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

2024/2025 TRAINING PROGRAMMES IN BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) AT DOMASI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IN 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians for studies in various programmes in education for the 2024/25 academic year as follows:

I. Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Generic:
This is a four-year face-to-face training programme leading, on successful completion, to a Bachelor of Education Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, and Languages and Communication.

1. Minimum Entry Requirements

CATEGORY A: SCHOOL LEAVERS.

a) Candidates who have MSCE, IGCSE or O Level or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023)

b) Candidates with A Level or its equivalent obtained in the past five years (2019, 2020,2021, 2022, and 2023).

c) Candidates MUST have a minimum of six credits on their certificate including a credit in English;

d) Candidates MUST have a minimum of credits in the two teaching subjects they are applying for;

e) Candidates MUST not be more than 45 years of age.

f) In addition to the minimum entry requirements, candidates MUST also meet the individual programme requirements.

CATEGORY B: SERVING TEACHERS

a) Candidates MUST have a T2 teaching certificate

b) Candidates MUST have a minimum of 4 years teaching experience

c) Candidates MUST have MSCE, IGCSE, or O-Level with a minimum of six credits and credits in the two teaching subjects applied for;

d) Candidates MUST not be more than 50 years old at the time of application.

e) Selection does not imply automatic granting of study leave, for which serving teachers

MUST apply in line with guidelines and conditions governing this leave.
