It was a great privilege to host the Second Edition of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) Conference, held at Livingstonia Beach in Salima, Malawi, from 7–9 May 2026, in collaboration with the Accountant General’s Department under the Ministry of Finance, the National Audit Office (NAO), and the National Local Government Finance Committee.
Held under the theme, “From Compliance to Impact: Strengthening Public Finance Accountability through the Implementation of IPSAS,” the conference brought together over 200 accounting experts and practitioners from across the public sector.
The conference provided an exceptional platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on strengthening public financial management, transparency, accountability, and sustainable governance through effective IPSAS implementation.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Accountant General’s Department, the National Audit Office (NAO), and the National Local Government Finance Committee for partnering with David Hastings Associates (DHA) in delivering this successful conference.
We are equally grateful to all speakers, facilitators, delegates, sponsors, and organising partners whose valuable contributions made the conference impactful and memorable. The insightful discussions and practical experiences shared throughout the sessions will undoubtedly contribute to advancing IPSAS adoption and implementation across Malawi’s public sector.
