An opportunity for skill-building while waiting for NMCM certification.......!

Malawi - Scotland Partnership introduces a fellowship program

Due to the mismatch that exists between our education system and the ever growing needs and demands of the labour market; most people, especially young persons, even those with a formal education are unemployable as they luck the necessary skills to make them competitive. Additionally, 50,000 young people are entering the job market in Malawi every year but there are no jobs for all of them making it a fighting zone for the fittest. Against this background, the Malawi Scotland Partnership has introduced a fellowship program aimed at equipping fresh graduates with knowledge and skills that will enable them obtain the necessary skills required for the job market.
The young people will be coming to the three Communication and Resource centers in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu in their own time and each will be attached to a particular sector. They will then be oriented on the requirements and they will be taught how they can do research, write and then come up with concept notes for a period of 6 months. The MaSP will endeavor to provide support to the young persons offering them skills that will empower them and build their confidence to look beyond finding a job but creating jobs for themselves and others. The MaSP CEO had this to say about the Fellowship programme: “Every employer is looking for someone with experience, but Malawi does not have a deliberate system that provides such skills to young people especially those fresh out of college. Through this programme , we shall be offering the much needed skills to the young people, we shall offer them a once in a life time opportunity to work in a real office set up, we will offer them an opportunity to use their minds and conduct research in their areas of interests and then after six months come up with a concept which can be used as a basis for a full proposal by any of our members”.
At the end of the fellowship programme MaSP will offer reference letters to the fellows which will back them up when making job applications. For further information and registration, please send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] before 15th June 2018.
