The University of Lilongwe has its origins in the passion and vision which the directors of Bambino Corporation have had towards education. The directors have been involved in education for more than 25 years. In this period, the corporation has been at the forefront in offering quality and meaningful education services to Malawi. Many students who have gone through the corporations various educat
ion structures have gone on to become influential individuals in various sectors of our economy and are now contributing to the transformation of the country. With this background, it was only natural that the next step, for the corporation, should be the opening of an institution of higher education which would take on the task of contributing to the offering of quality tertiary education. 3. University of Lilongwe Constituent Schools
University of Lilongwe, is initially composed of three schools and one Centre: The School of Management, School of Law, Governance and Policy, School of Education and the Centre for Continuing Education
The School of Management will focus on professional programs: Business, Entrepreneurship and Management
The School of Law, Governance and Policy will focus on Governance, Law and other Social Sciences. The School of Education will focus on Education. The Centre for Continuing Education will be the home of professional courses, and programs in transition among others. Its curriculum will be integrative, interdisciplinary, and holistic; with a pedagogy that provides for adult interactive learning and formal learning from undergraduate level in keeping with the Life-long Learning model
By 2018 the University will have additional schools. The University has a President (Chancellor) and a will engage a Vice President of Academic Affairs. Each school has its own Dean, whose responsibility is the development, implementation, administration, and management of the programs.

Today, we proudly commemorated World Social Work Day 2026. Under the theme:
“Building Hope and Harmony Together: Working Hand in Hand with Families and Communities for a Better Future,”
The event brought together social work students from DMI-St John The Baptist University Lilongwe Campus and Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources alongside representatives from the Association of Social Workers in Malawi - ASWiM. From the solidarity March to engaging performances on the life and impact of social workers, today was a true celebration of dedication, compassion and service.
We were honored by the presence of the Guest of Honor, Director of Social Welfare whose remarks underscored the critical role of social work in national development, as well as the University of Lilongwe President, Executive Dean, Heads of Department, and various media houses.
It was a powerful celebration of unity, impact, and the vital role social workers play in our communities.

Intensive Foundational Studies Program.
This program is specifically designed for first-year generic students as they begin their university journey to strengthen their academic readiness by equipping them with core skills in critical thinking, communication, research, digital literacy, and time management, while also introducing them to the standards and expectations of higher education.
