Whenever life shows us its different colours, people are bound to show us their true colours. The true colour of people are mostly revealed in the rough seasons of life. One of the people that tough times always reveal to us are those who will stand with you, even when others desert you.

This kind of people identifies with you in your twists and turns of life. They stand with you throughout your peril and give you a shoulder not only to lean on but also to cry on. They are the friends indeed that were mentioned in the timeless statement, “a friend in need is a friend indeed.”

They are loyal friends who make the relationship they have with you their priority. They will sacrifice for you. They will tell you where you are wrong and what is wrong. They will always be on your side no matter what. They stand up for you when others turn against you.

Making a million friends is not a miracle, particularly now that people have social media following in thousands and millions. The miracle is to have a friend who would stand with you when millions are against you. These friends do not join others to cast aspersions on you neither will they fight you nor join others to fight you.

They do not jump out of your ship when it is sinking. They stick around to help you clean up the mess. They do not think twice about defending you. They know so much about you yet won’t sell you out. They bury your secrets deep in their hearts, and will never, under any circumstances, betray your trust. David had that in Jonathan. They stick closer than a brother and are God-sent.

Let us have a look at the third kind of people we discover when life happens to us. They are currently there in our lives but only waiting for things to tilt a little for you and then get unveiled.

Hard times reveal the fifth column in our lives. These people are that leaking end around you that take the happenings in your life to the streets without your knowledge.
They abuse the access you gave them into your life and take your stories to town. They know so much about you by reason of the access you gave them into your life. They are hypocritical people who always put up a smile to cover up their evil deeds.
This group of people do not leave you and even pretend to love you but do not love you a bit. They hang around you to know all that is happening in your life so that they have fresh news to share in town about you.
These are utterly dangerous and destructive people and you must pray for discernment to identify them because it is fatal not to identify them.

You will discover this group of friends when life hits you. These are people you thoughts were friends and you shared privileged information with.
They will practically turn against you to betray you when life turns against you. This kind of people easily sell you out and leave you broken. They are traitors who you gave access to but would use the privilege given to them to fight you or join with others to fight you.
They will fight you, accuse you, gang up against you and would even attempt to destroy what you had laboured to build.
This is one of the realities of life and several people have stories tell about how the people they once called friends pulled the trigger of betrayal against them. You have to be strong to overcome the betrayal of friends because not many people have really overcome it.
