Long-term Missionary or Volunteering Opportunity
(International or National, with the required qualifications; minimum one year with an option of prolonging)
Is your heart passionate about children and growing them in Christ, showing them the wonders of creation and helping them thrive in their individual gifts and talents through mature guidance and learning facilitation?
Are you an absolute nature lover, like moving around in it to explore with children?
Are you someone enjoying an environmentally and health conscious lifestyle, which you also want to share with kids in an engaging, fun and inspiring manner?
Are you compassionate, have a serving spirit but also able to display and loving authority and model discipline to kids as they look up and trust you?
Are you energetic, dynamic, take initiative and like to help solving challenges as they come rather than complaining about them?
Would you enjoy working in a place that is as naturally built and as low-footprint as possible, with life in all its awe-inspiring forms humming and crawling about?
Would you feel comfortable and enthusiastic nurturing kids in a mostly plastics-free environment, where the concept foresees that we reduce, re-use, recycle as much as possible and make things ourselves from what is around (mostly together with the kids) to grow their sense of sustainability and creativity, rather than a posh environment where we buy all things new?
Do you have excellent English language skills both in speech and writing (for non- mother tongue speakers, may be proven through an internationally acknowledged test like TOEFL or Cambridge); a relevant professional background that would qualify you as a learning facilitator (while Mom's do their part at home), and proven successful experience in teaching and caretaking of children in either a group or institutional setup, either based on a given homeschooling curriculum or in a pre-school setting?
Have you ever worked or felt called to work in a small, family-style (max 15 children) independent forest kindergarten and homeschooling support environment for 3-8 year olds here in the warm heart of Africa... guiding kids from different backgrounds (both international and Malawian, both paying or sponsored by us or others), with the help of a wonderful homeschooling curriculum and lots of your and your assistants' combined creativity, while building capacity in your dedicated local assistants?
Do you love the idea of organizing nature related clubs for kids?
If you have answered the above with yes, then you may be just the person we are looking for to take over the Captainship at our Noah's Ark!
Please send us an introductory motivation letter about your interest to fill this position, and a CV outlining your relevant skills and experience, to [email protected]
Start date is as soon as possible - ideally beginning or mid November 2023, slightly later would also be possible if required.
Accommodation and food are offered and a stipend towards living expenses is covered by the paying parents.
We pray for just the right person to be sent to us soon :). π
Warm regards to All.

Animal care, nature exploration and organic farming, as well as healthy cooking and conscious snacking are integral part of our learning to take responsibility for our earth and living a sustainable life. We focus much on appreciating God's creation, spending much time in nature and taking care of it as a basis for a happy, grounded and healthy life.

Every Saturday, a group of young ladies between 13 and 17 years of age attend a privately initiated community support programme at our Noah'sArk.
The girls are from different villages and schools in our surrounding area much enjoy and grow through the regular exchange about "girls things" with inspiring female facilitators; career talks and strategizing about their skills development for raising sufficient income for their further education; common praise & worship; nature walks; and the empowering English & computer lessons.
Many of these lovely girls have big and wonderful dreams... some would like to become doctors, nurses, lawyers, journalists...but many of them share the experience of having been sent home from school at times as their parents had not been able to pay their fees, let alone exercise books, or uniforms.
Many girls in Malawi face challenges attending school regularly during menstruation periods because of lack of access to pads and lack of adequate hygiene facilities.
Our girls group is currently going through a facilitated process of selecting suitable vocational skills to suit each of them with their specific gifts and talents. Some shall be learning how to sew washable and reusable pads for themselves and their friends, which is also a great fund raising resource for their school and college fees; while others are preparing to engage in holiday internships and training under our green community entrepreneurship initiative, e.g. bamboo & recycle furniture & accessories making, compost & fertilizer making; organic farming etc.
The Saturday sessions are coordinated by our female MD and led by our dedicated volunteer Sidreck, himself a school and Chichewa-as-a-foreign-language teacher, as well as a group of rotating lady volunteers, including a student of an international highschool who shares interactive science experiments with the group.
We welcome other volunteers to support these wonderful young ladies in their skills development. The group would also benefit greatly from some financial or in-kind support to acquire two sewing machines, upkeep during trainings and internships, tools and equipment sets for those engaging in guided entrepreneurial activities.
