Saint Lawrence secondary girls school is a boarding-school for girls in Chikwawa, Malawi. At this moment around 250 girls study at this school . Malawi is a country in the center of Africa next to Mozambique, Zambia and Tanaznia. The school lays in Chikwawa , Nsanje which is the most southern part of the country. It it also the warmest and driest part of Malawi. The idea of a secondary girls school came from Felix Mhkori, at that moment the Bishop of Chikwawa, in 1993. It was his dream to start this secondary school for girls in his earea. His slogan was 'When you educate a woman, you educate the country' . He asked two people, who were familiar with the country for help, Jac and Trees Nilwik. With the help of the parish, family and friends they made his dream reality. In 1999 the first class with 50 children started and every year a new class started. They still raise money to keep improving the school , making it able to give more and more girls the opportunity to have a proper education. After these four years of secondary school most of the girls go to a professional education like nure, teacher or bankemployee however you can also go to a university. The school has many need, as it is a boarding school , and is still depending on foundations of many people.
