𝗠𝗨𝗕𝗔𝗦 𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

The Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) Darts Team at The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) emerged champions of the 2025 Southern Region Darts League.

In cerebration of the achievement, the team presented the championship trophy to their sponsor, MUBAS ICE, at the MUBAS Main Campus in Blantyre.

Speaking during the presentation, Manager of the Institute of Continuing Education at MUBAS, Dr. Andrew Chimpololo says he is impressed with the team’s success especially considering that while MUBAS is more engaged in academic activities, sporting activities remain part of an important pillar of the university’s mission.

“ICE supports several sporting activities within the university, including football, netball, and volleyball,’’ said Chimpololo.

He further described darts as a sport that promotes mental wellbeing, relaxation, and companionship among staff members and he reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to continued sponsorship, with ambitions not only to win more trophies but also to compete for the national championship.

Commenting on the team’s success Jeremiah Mwakayoka described the season as challenging but rewarding.

“The victory represents remarkable progress for the team, which finished fourth in last year’s league,” said Mwakayoka.

He expressed gratitude to ICE for its unwavering support to the team.

MUBAS ICE has sponsored the darts team since 2014 and this is the first time the team has won the trophy.

The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to the human capital development of the country by widening access to higher education.

Executive Dean for the School of Education, Communication, and Media Studies (SECOMS) at MUBAS, Dr. Kizito Kanyoma said this on October 29, 2025 at COMESA Hall in Blantyre during the 7th Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) graduation ceremony where 322 students graduated with Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, and Postgraduate Diplomas in various programmes such as Business Management, Public Health, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Community Development , Media Studies, Graphic Design and Secretarial Management , just to mention a few.

The Minister of Education Hon. Madalitso Kambauwa-Wirima M.P. presided over the launch of the Institute Of Continuing Education (ICE) on 31st January, 2024 under the theme, Continuing Education: Key to Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development.

In her Speech, the minister highlighted that, "Education is the key that opens the door to a brighter future."
