It was with great honour that Central High International School awarded the 2020–21 academic achievers. Not only was this a celebration of the awardees' diligence, but an acknowledgement and appreciation of the efforts inculcated by parents, teachers, and the school as a whole.
What set apart this particular traditional occasion was the presence of greatness in our midst. Our esteemed Guest of Honour, the Vice-Chancellor of UNICAF, Dr Robert Ridley, delivered a moving speech with eloquence and grace—the true marks of a well-learned and experienced educator who definitely walks the talk. The focus of his delivery emphasised the much-needed awakening of every academic achiever; to not only pursue bookish brilliance but to also develop personal achievements that are paramount to one’s overall success in this life.
Adding to the grandeur was the attendance of the Board Chair and two Board Members of Central High International School; Mr Irfan Bheda, Mr Farouk Nathanie and Mr Shabir Nathanie respectively. Most certainly, distinguished guests whose presence alone brought the necessary heartwarming aura.
More than eighty students, comprising Form One to Form Five and highest achievers in the May/June Cambridge IGCSE & AS/A Levels received top of the range prizes. We acknowledge UNICAF for sponsoring some of the trophies for this event. Accompanied by their exhilarated parents (shedding a tear or two of glee) to the podium, it was all smiles from the award recipients to their parents and officiates of the Felicitation Ceremony.
Indeed, such is the pride of students, parents, and the school upon stupendous attainments.
Hats off to you, our awardees!!!

“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it”- Joseph Joubert

Debate is one of the academic activities that allows students to express themselves creatively. The depth and breadth of information they obtain as a result of the event are unparalleled. On Wednesday, 10th November 2021, the Seniors Inter-House Debate Competition on the topic, "Should the world shift towards virtual learning?" was held.

The teams were well-prepared such that the audience was swayed neither here nor there. The participants, armed with figures and evidence, used appropriate facial expressions and vocal modulation to amplify their claims. They had excellent oratory skills. For both the speakers and the House, the competition was a thrilling experience!

Nyika House took first place for the day, followed by Zomba House, Mulanje House and Viphya House respectively.
The dynamo of speakers consisted of Nyika's Nigel Madanhire, Walumbike Nkhata and Shahnawaz Saiyed; Zomba's Bright Chisambiro and Amaan Bheda; Mulanje's Moksha Saripilli, Zahid Motani and Aisha Patel as well as Viphya's Gracian Mainja, Surya Kallepali and Fardeen Patel.
Nigel Madanhire came out as the best speaker.

“Speech is power; speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
On Wednesday, the 3rd of November, Central High International School hosted an Inter-House Debate Competition themed, “Should students be permitted to use personal digital gadgets in class?"
The competition's goal was to improve students' public speaking skills and educate them on how to be articulate when expressing their views and opinions both at school and within the corporate world (upon leaving school). The speakers from Mulanje, Nyika, Viphya, and Zomba houses spoke eloquently and gave the judges a run for their money!
The open session granted to the House was yet another event highlight, with its torrent of dynamic views on the theme for the day.
The top place went to Zomba House, followed by Mulanje House. Nyika House was placed third, and Viphya House was placed fourth.
The Power House of Speakers comprised of Shammah Dunga, Menusha Amerasinghe, Hanaan Mia (Zomba), Umar, Shlesh Patel, Hayfa Khan ( Nyika), Runakorwashe Nyamanhindi, Siya Chovatiya, Levi Josiya(Mulanje), Meghan Mwachande, Zaafirah M***a and Omah (Viphya), but set apart from the pack as overall best speaker was Shammah Dunga.

If there's one thing we know for sure, it's that students enjoy having their faces painted!
Who would have thought that a human face, with its complicated and uneven features would become just the right canvass for the artist behind the paint brush?
The Art & Design Club produced aesthetic and imaginative pieces of artwork for the Face Painting Competition on Wednesday, the 3rd of November.
The level of excellence executed can be summarized by the words of John Lubbock, “Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind. As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life.”
Below are the results of the Face Painting Competition
Seniors
Nyika House -1st position
Viphya House- 2nd
Mulanje & Zomba House- 3rd position
Juniors
Zomba House - 1st position
Viphya House - 2nd position
Mulanje House - 3rd position
Nyika House- 4th position
