Be part of the winning team by registering for the 2026 January intake

African Parks, in partnership with the Malawi Government through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement managing Liwonde National Park, has expressed gratitude after 21 students supported by the conservation partnership successfully graduated from Khwisa Community Technical College in Balaka.

The students graduated in various fields such as plumbing, carpentry, ICT, and many more.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Park Manager for Liwonde and Mangochi Forest Reserve, Shaibu Kadewere, said this is a great milestone, seeing students they have been supporting achieving their goals, especially those who couldn’t afford to pay school fees. He said education is one of the key sectors African Parks works on, and he encouraged the graduates to remain dedicated, disciplined, and continue learning more skills.

Monica Chinji Banda, one of the graduates from Mangochi District, Traditional Authority Jalasi, Chiwina Village, said she never expected to become a graduate. She said after writing her MSCE, she had no hope of continuing with school because her family couldn’t afford tuition fees. She expressed happiness and said her goal is to open a garage in her village to show that girls can also make it. She further appealed to African Parks and Liwonde National Park to continue supporting girls facing challenges.

Principal of Khwisa Community Technical College, Mabvuto Michael Mtetemera, said a total of 146 students have graduated this year, 61 girls and 85 boys in different fields. He encouraged parents to continue sending their children to the college to help them develop their skills.
