Our C4 Creative Arts and Design students explored the concept of scale in architectural drawing, gaining an understanding of its purpose and learning how to accurately convert measurements.
As part of a hands-on activity, they were introduced to the metric system and practised designing a basic floor plan. This interactive session was conducted under the Design Context: Interior and Exterior module.

A special guest lecture was conducted for the Foundation Mathematics 2 students by Dr. Gaurav Madan, Research Scientist at the University of Reading, UK.
The session provided valuable insights into the importance of statistics in IT and finance-related careers, highlighting how data-driven decision-making plays a critical role in these fields. Students also explored how real-world challenges, such as global warming, can be addressed using data analysis, modelling, and statistical tools.
In addition, the session shed light on a wide range of career opportunities related to statistics and offered guidance on how students can design meaningful career pathways in mathematics.
It was an engaging and informative session that broadened students’ perspectives on the practical applications of mathematics in today’s world.

Today, a special guest lecture session was conducted for the Foundational Mathematics 2 students by Mr. Indoosan Shanthakumaran, Deputy Manager, Environmental Sustainability – Africa Operations at LOLC Holdings PLC.
The session focused on how mathematics and statistics drive sustainability by transforming data into meaningful insights. It highlighted the importance of modeling change, analyzing trends in areas such as energy use and emissions, and using data responsibly to support informed decision-making for a more sustainable future.
