Kalaafaanu School Official page of Kalaafaanu School. Kalaafaanu School was built with the aid of the Government of Japan.

The Foundation Stone was laid on 16th February 1988. The construction was completed, and the school was formally opened on the 25th of July 1989 by the former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. Kalaafaanu, twenty years from its inception, the ever majestic structure stands as a proud symbol of the Maldivian government’s commitment to primary education and as a silent testimony to the generosity of the people of Japan. From the very beginning, Kalaafaanu School’s special charm stemming from its unique structure and location ensured it as the prominent place among the country’s finest buildings. Even today, after 20 years of primary education under its belt, Kalaafaanu School continues to retain the beauty that made it a landmark of the capital city at the time of its opening. More ever, the passage of time, combined with the successes it has attained and the friendships forged within its walls has added character to the building, transforming it from a place of mere structural beauty to a place of true elegance that can be born of proud history. For the students and teachers who have had the previlege of passing through its gate, Kalaafaanu stands as a symbol of intergrity, stability and continuity and is also a special remainder of life’s simple pleasures and innocence.
