This year, the theme “Give to Gain” celebrates the power of connection, support, and opportunity because when we lift each other, everyone thrives.

In chess, women are proving that every move counts. From the local boards in the Maldives to global tournaments, women players are breaking barriers, inspiring the next generation, and showing that strategy, skill, and courage have no gender.

Nihaya Ahmed is a 9-time Maldives Women’s Chess Champion, known for her dedication, resilience, and passion for the game.

Through years of commitment and hard work, she has become an inspiration for many young girls who dream of making their mark in chess.

Her journey reminds us that success comes move by move with patience, courage, and belief in oneself. Nihaya continues to represent the strength and potential of women in chess, encouraging the next generation of players to sit at the board with confidence.
