The Reading Room is proud to support the collaboration between Room to Read, an international NGO, and the National Institute of Education (NIE) on this exciting initiative.
Together, we have adapted 15 children's books into Dhivehi and developed a Reading Resource Manual for school librarians to help foster a love of reading among young learners.
Next step is the Master Training, where educators and librarians will be equipped to implement the guide and effectively use the adapted Dhivehi books in primary school libraries. We look forward to seeing this initiative bring engaging, high-quality reading experiences to children across the Maldives.

The Reading Room is committed to supporting schools in designing effective reading programs and integrating reading into daily classroom practice.
Teachers of Shaheed Ali School participated in a session on Designing an Effective Reading Program, where they explored the essential principles and practical tools needed to develop a successful school reading programme.
Another milestone in empowering teachers to foster a lifelong love of reading and create stronger learning outcomes for every child.

Fasting six days in the month of Shawwal is a highly recommended (Sunnah Mustahabbah) practice in Islam, offering immense rewards. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said that whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if they have fasted the entire year. We mark the end of the blessed days of fasting, and our Ramadan storytime with the story of two gardens, presented by Makeena Noushyn Ali, from her collection of YouTube stories.
