1. One paragraph for each guiding question, in order: who kicked the ball, how we reacted, what the neighbour said, what happened in the end.
2. The story starts in the first sentence. No long introduction.
3. It stays in the past tense from start to finish. Only the words people say are in the present ("Let's run!").
4. It uses direct speech, punctuated correctly: a comma, then the words inside inverted commas, with the ! or full stop inside.
5. The sentences vary: long ones ("While my friends and I were playingโฆ", "As soon as he opened itโฆ"), short ones for effect ("We were panic-stricken."), and an exclamation ("What a relief it was!").
6. It uses expressions instead of "very": panic-stricken, with all his might, my heart skipped a beat.

Don't ask your child to learn this story by heart. The situation changes every year, and the examiners give little credit to learnt compositions that do not fit the question. Learn the phrases and the shape instead.

During a heavy downpour, the roof of your classroom started leaking. Write a story of about 120 words to say what happened on that day.
The following may help you: What were you doing in class? How did you and your classmates react? What did your teacher do? What happened in the end?
