Day 2 of training in Tana, Madagascar
Training delivered on behalf of COLEAD, and I’m truly happy to be part of such a fantastic team of trainers.
Training in a different country and working as part of a team feels like a promising sign of what 2026 has in store.
Stepping out of the comfort zone, embracing new challenges, and plenty of opportunities to learn.

✨ Our Final Carbon Farming Training Session — And What a Grand Finale It Was!

If you ever wondered what happens when you put teachers, students, farmers, professionals, and curious minds of all backgrounds into one room to learn about carbon farming…
Well, you get magic.
And also… 37 participants packed into a session designed for far fewer!
But hey — the more, the merrier, right? 😄

This last group was exceptional.
Curious. Energetic. Always asking “Sir, enn kestyon ankor…”
And you know what? We loved every second of it.

From soil biodiversity to field demonstrations, from microbial life to regenerative agriculture — everyone showed up with passion and a genuine desire to understand how we can heal the soil and heal our future. 🌍
To all participants:
🙌 Thank you for your enthusiasm
🙌 Thank you for the questions (even the tricky ones!)
🙌 Thank you for proving that learning is contagious
🙌 And thank you for showing that carbon farming is truly for everyone
You were the biggest group we’ve ever trained… and one of the most memorable. 💚
RTC is proud to walk this journey with you.

Let’s keep growing, keep regenerating, and keep inspiring Mauritius — one soil microbe at a time! 🌱✨

Master Atelier VARUNA 2025 — Four Days of Sharing, Learning & Building the Future Together

What an inspiring week it has been!

From 25 to 28 November, partners from across the Indian Ocean region came together in Mauritius for the Master Atelier Partenarial VARUNA 2025 — four days dedicated to field immersion, scientific exchange, collective reflection, and the strengthening of regional cooperation.

On the 1st day, our journey took us from Odysseo to Le Morne, Bel Ombre, and onwards to rich discussions at Heritage Marine Education Centre. We explored blue carbon initiatives, mangrove restoration, and the continuum between land and sea — all while connecting with passionate experts, researchers, private sector actors, and project leaders who are shaping the region’s environmental future. The RTC had the great opportunity to showcase the carbon farming plot at Bel Ombre, while receiving insights from the many experts on the future of such a project.

Over these four days, we:
✅ Visited FBBOI project sites and met committed field teams
✅ Held a special 8th COPIL highlighting research from UoM & UdM
✅ Worked on capitalisation, storytelling, and territorial anchoring
✅ Reflected collectively on “What Varuna sows for the future”
… and strengthened the bonds that make this programme so unique.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for your energy, openness, and contributions. Together, we are building continuity, alliances, and impact that will carry Varuna forward.
Here’s to collaboration, biodiversity, and the seeds of tomorrow. 🌱✨

From Vision to Innovation — GreenOrigin at MRIC 2025!

The Regional Training Centre (RTC) is proud to share the success of the GreenOrigin Project, presented at the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) on 6 November 2025.

Started in 2023, this project set out to make organic and sustainable food in Mauritius more transparent and trustworthy. After two years of research, development, and testing, RTC and AgriCare Consultants Ltd created GreenOrigin — a digital tool using blockchain technology to trace products from farm to fork.

With GreenOrigin, farmers can register their crops, certifiers can validate data, and consumers can scan a simple QR code to verify the origin of their food — instantly and securely!
Congratulations to Mrs. Isabelle Domijan Bowler, Mr. Arvin Beekharry, and all our partners who made this milestone possible.

Together, we’re shaping a smarter, greener, and more transparent food system for Mauritius.

GreenOrigin presently operates as a prototype dApp running on a testnet instance of the Polygon blockchain. Full mainnet deployment will require further module refinement, smart-contract auditing, performance optimization, and integration testing to ensure security, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
