On 19 September, we were delighted to celebrate the achievements of our Mandarin and Hulusi students at their Graduation Ceremony. Our students proudly showcased what they had learned through choral singing, poetry recitations, and beautiful Hulusi performances, sharing their passion for the Chinese language, music, and culture. Congratulations to all our students on completing their courses! We hope this marks the beginning of an even more rewarding journey as you continue to deepen your connection with China and Chinese culture, and discover the joy of learning Mandarin and playing the Hulusi.
We also deeply thank our three teachers: Mr. Song Hui, Ms. Liang Yuanyuan (Olivia), and Ms. Zhao Ruixin (Lucky). Many touching moments and stories between the teachers and the students stand as testimony to the affectionate bond between the peoples of China and Mauritius.

We are pleased and honored to have the presence of Hon. Mr. Mahendra Gondeea, Minister of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, Mr. Vedanand Totoo, Chairperson of the District Council of Pamplemousses, Mrs. Ramnauth Toolsee Kreetee and other eminent personalities at the Opening Ceremony of the China-Themed Publications and Cultural Creative Products Touring Exhibition on 9 September 2026 at the China Cultural Centre in Mauritius. Eleven leading Chinese publishing houses took part in the exhibition, including China International Book Trading Corporation, China Industry and Information Technology Press & Media Group, China Renmin University Press etc.
We were encouraged by the speech delivered by Hon. Mr. Mahendra Gondeea, Minister of Arts and Culture of Mauritius, especially his remarks on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Mauritian writers, artists and publishers and their Chinese counterparts, exploring deeper partnerships, and working together to bring the stories of both countries to a wider audience.
Following the speeches, Mr. Yang Jun, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius & Director of the China Cultural Centre in Mauritius, and the representatives of the Chinese publishing sector joined Hon. Mr. Mahendra Gondeea and other eminent personalities for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the exhibition.
Congratulations to lucky participants numbered 54 (marking the 54ᵗʰ anniversary of China-Mauritius diplomatic relations) and 70 (marking the 70ᵗʰ anniversary of China-Africa diplomatic relations), who won books at the Opening Ceremony.
The exhibition showcases a wide range of books and cultural and creative products, covering politics, economics, culture, education, science and technology, among other areas. The exhibition closes today.

Senior Staff - China Cultural Center in Mauritius

The China Cultural Center in Mauritius invites applications for one (1) Senior Staff position to support the Center’s cultural activities, administration and daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the planning and implementation of cultural activities and Chinese language programmes.
2. Provide administrative and operational support to the Center.
3. Assist with external liaison, arrange official meetings and other external activities.
4. Coordinate staff attendance and assist with staff management.
5. Assist with staff welfare, overtime records and related administrative matters.
6. Coordinate logistics, facilities and maintenance.
7. Other assignments from the Director.

Requirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree or above.
2. Experience in administration, human resources management or a related field.
3. Experience in organizing cultural activities is an advantage.
4. Proficiency in Chinese and English, or Chinese and French, is preferred.
5. Relevant work experience and strong organizational and communication skills.
6. Diligence is essential, and extra commitment may be expected in response to work priorities.

Employment Details:
Position: 1
Salary: Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
Benefits: In accordance with the laws and regulations of Mauritius and regulations of China Cultural in Mauritius.

We were delighted and deeply honored to welcome H.E. Mr Jean Yvan Robert Hungley, Vice-President of Mauritius, Mr Ding Peiyi, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius, Mrs Mehzabeen Caramtali, Deputy Lord Mayor of Port Louis, to the celebration of World Wushu-Kungfu Day on August 16 at Caudan Waterfront, Port Louis.
Together with Wushu practitioners, lovers and friends from China and Mauritius and tourists from other countries, we enjoyed a vibrant celebration of martial arts, culture and friendship.
The impressive Wushu performances received warm applause and enthusiastic support from the audience, making the event a truly joyful and memorable occasion.

On 12 August, the China Cultural Center in Mauritius participated in the International Youth Day 2026 Cross-Cultural Exchange, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Mauritius, together with representatives from various institutions and youth organizations. The celebration was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Darmarajen Nagalingum, Junior Minister Hon. Tony Apollon, and H.E. Ambassador Huang Shifang was invited to the event with other eminent personalities.
During the event, our Center presented a cultural exhibition featuring Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, Shu embroidery, and panda mascots. Participants also had the opportunity to browse and take home tourism brochures, providing further inspiration to explore the beauty and diversity of China.
During the cultural presentation, a Chinese youth representative from our Center in Mauritius introduced China’s rich cultural heritage and tourism resources, highlighting the history and distinctive features of the hulusi, a traditional musical instrument originating from Yunnan Province. It was followed by a hulusi performance of Mr. Song Hui, a professional artist from China, who performed the classic piece Moonlight over the Bamboo Grove, allowing the audience to appreciate the unique charm of traditional Chinese music.
The event brought together young people from different cultural backgrounds and provided a valuable platform for mutual learning, friendship, and intercultural dialogue. The China Cultural Center in Mauritius remains committed to promoting cultural exchange and strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Mauritius.
