Public Schools System is the single largest non-governmental education society in India. It is based on the ideals of the religious and social reformer, Swami Dayanand Saraswati. The first D.A.V College was established in India by Mahatma Hansraj at Lahore in 1886. In Mauritius the D.A.V College was opened on January 12, 1965 in the precinct of the Arya Sabha, thanks to the vision of his Holiness Swami Akilanandji Maharaj. The school is run by the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society, also commonly known as the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Education Society. English is the primary language of instruction, with students also receiving compulsory education in Hindi and Sanskrit or a regional language. Anglo Vedic, the name itself implies a perfect blend of modern education and the essence of traditional Indian culture. The main purpose of the school is to provide physical and intellectual and moral value and education to an individual. The school follows the main system stream Education of Mauritius as directed by the Government of Mauritius. But we must note that moral values are taught as well for example, Hinduism. It provides a worldwide recognized educational level, keeping in mind the CIE international assessments are as well provided up to Cambridge O level and the A\ As level . The School philosophy:
