The Storytelling Competition for Grade 5 learners of Rodrigues took place last Friday.

With one participant from each of the 17 participating primary institutions, we were exposed to various stories ranging from The Little Red Hen, The Guardians of Rodrigues, The Treasure of Mont Limon, The Magic Pot, Koko the Chemeleon, The Speaking Tree, A Kind Fisher Boy, The Frog Prince, The Fox and the Crane, I was once a Little Seed, Miko and the Wild Dogs, Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, The Power of Patience, Little Red Riding Hood, The Wolf and the Lamb to The Clever Rabbit and the Lion.

Each participant showed the dedication put in and we cannot forget the support of the parents and the staff at the schools.

The winner of the 2026 Storytelling Competition was Emalya Genave of St Therese de l’Enfant Jesus RCA School for her narration of The Little Red Hen. She was followed by Montagu Navette of Basile Allas Port Mathurin Govt School & Yorabelle Gaspard of Marc Etienne Roche Bon Dieu Govt School. The cultural programme prepared by pupils of Grand La Fourche Corail Govt School was the cherry on the cake for this wonderful competition.

Our appreciation to our Vice-President who officiated as MC, our Secretary & Treasurer who were on the jury panel, as well as Anouchka Collard who was also on the jury panel.

We thank all our valued partners and sponsors for this 2026 edition and we also thank Mrs Etienne from the Commission for Education for her everlasting support.

Till we meet in 2027, pupils of Grade 4 have one full year to get ready 👌
