[Travel & Tourism] A Journey into Hospitality and Aviation.

Our Grade 11, Grade 12 and Grade 13 Travel and Tourism students recently had the opportunity to explore key sectors of the tourism industry through educational visits to Pearle Beach Resort & Spa, Coin de Mire Attitude and Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

At the hotels, students discovered the daily operations of departments such as reception, the kids’ club, restaurant and guest services. They also learned about hospitality, customer service, teamwork and sustainable tourism practices.

At the airport, they gained practical knowledge of passenger handling, security procedures, airport services and the important roles played by the different departments within the aviation industry.

These visits gave our students valuable exposure to the professional world and helped them better understand the wide range of career opportunities available in travel, tourism, hospitality and aviation.

A sincere thank you to the teams at Pearle Beach Resort, Coin de Mire Attitude and SSR International Airport for their warm welcome and for sharing their knowledge and experience with our students.

Special thanks to our Travel and Tourism Department for organising these enriching visits and for continuously providing students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom.

One Team. One Spirit. One Unforgettable Food & Fun Day! [PART 2] 🎉

Today’s Food & Fun Day was a tremendous success and undoubtedly one of the most unique and memorable events ever organised at LC.

This achievement was made possible through the collective effort of our educators, support staff, students, Prefects and Student Council. Everyone worked together with one objective: to create a memorable day for our school.

A special thank you to Mr Vydelingum and Mr Mohamedally for their excellent organisation, planning and leadership throughout the event. They helped make this Food & Fun Day one of the best and most memorable events ever held at LC. Their ability to bring together staff and students played a major role in the success of the event. They ensured that every team understood its responsibilities and that the different activities ran as smoothly as possible.

Our educators were outstanding, and today we are very proud of each and every one of them. From the cooking and cafeteria teams to those managing the games and various activities, they worked tirelessly throughout the day. Their dedication, energy and willingness to go the extra mile for LC and for our students were truly remarkable. Every effort, whether visible at the forefront or carried out behind the scenes, was deeply appreciated and did not go unnoticed.

Our support staff also deserve immense recognition. They played a central role in the preparation, setting up of facilities, transportation of materials, maintenance, cleaning, security and overall smooth running of the day. Much of their work happened behind the scenes, but the event could not have succeeded without their availability, efficiency and constant support. They are an essential part of Team LC, and we are truly grateful for everything they do for the school.

Today once again confirmed what we already know: LC has the best staff. Their genuine commitment to the school and its students make us extremely proud.

We also congratulate our Grade 11 students for taking the initiative to organise the exciting Horror Room and our Grade 13 students for managing the lively Karaoke Room. Their creativity and involvement added a unique dimension to the event.

Our Prefects and Student Council also worked responsibly throughout the day, assisting staff, guiding students and helping to maintain order.

A sincere thank you to all our sponsors for their valuable support through the provision of food, equipment and other resources. Special appreciation also goes to the archery team for introducing our students to such an important activity, and to the musical artist for his performance, which brought even more energy and enjoyment to the day.

A Celebration of Mauritian Culture 🇲🇺

Inspired by their own idea to showcase the vibrant culture of Mauritius, our Grade 12 and Grade 13 students planned and prepared a colourful Cultural Show celebrating the rich diversity of our island.

Students from various grades participated through traditional dances, songs, slam poetry and poems. They also wore cultural attire representing the different traditions and communities that form our unique Mauritian identity.

More than just a performance, the show promoted unity, mutual respect and appreciation for the multicultural society in which we live.

Congratulations to our Grade 12 and Grade 13 students for taking this meaningful initiative, and well done to all the participants who shared their talents and brought our vibrant culture to life.

[Food & Nut] Educational Visit - From Milk to Yoghurt 🥛

Our Food and Nutrition students recently visited Maurilait to discover how yoghurt is produced on an industrial scale.
From pasteurisation and homogenisation to fermentation and packaging, students had the opportunity to observe the different stages of production firsthand. They also learned about hygiene, food safety, quality control and the modern equipment used in the food industry.

This valuable experience brought classroom learning to life and gave our students a better understanding of how the food industry operates.

[Business Studies] Engines of Progress or Agents of Exploitation? The MNC Dilemma!

Grade 12 and 13 Business students participated in an engaging debate on the role of multinational corporations in the modern economy, organized by Business Studies Dept.

The activity allowed students to strengthen their confidence, public-speaking, research, critical-thinking and teamwork skills. It also encouraged them to express their views clearly while respecting different opinions.

🎉 National Spelling Bee Competition: On to the Finals!🐝

Congratulations to all our students who represented Labourdonnais College in the National Spelling Bee competition.

A special well done to Joholee Rizwaan from Grade 7 and Goorbin Yashveer from Grade 9 for qualifying for the National Spelling Bee Finals!

Spelling in front of an audience, under pressure, and against strong competitors is not easy. All our participants showed courage, focus and determination throughout the competition.

We are proud of each one of you for your effort, preparation and positive attitude. You represented the school beautifully.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the teachers, esp Ms Dowlut, who worked hard to guide, support and prepare our students. Their dedication and encouragement played an important role in this achievement.
