The future of industry is digital and the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) is helping businesses prepare for it. As Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation and e-marketing rapidly transform the way businesses operate, compete and reach global markets, the University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) continues to place innovation and technology at the heart of its engagement with industry.
In this spirit, UTM was a key contributor to the interactive workshop โDriving Export Growth in Industry through Digital Transformation, E-Marketing and AI,โ organised by the Economic Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).
The workshop took place on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at the EDB Auditorium, 7 Exchange Square, Wall Street, Ebรจne. bringing together experts from UTM, the University of Mauritius (UoM) and Infosys, the event created a dynamic platform for businesses to discover how emerging technologies can unlock new opportunities and strengthen their presence in international markets.
The event was attended by the Honourable Minister of Industry, SME and Cooperatives, Mr Aadil Ameer Meea; the Director General of UTM, Professor (Dr.) Hemant B. Chittoo (CMILT); the Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Development Board, Mr Rajah Ramdaursingh; the Director of Export Promotion & Market Access, Mr Geerish Bucktowonsing; as well as several other distinguished personalities and industry stakeholders.
In his address, Honourable Minister Aadil Ameer Meea emphasised the need to create greater value from the resources available to Mauritius, while harnessing technology to build a more productive and competitive economy. His remarks highlighted the importance of adopting innovative technologies and transforming existing resources and capabilities into greater economic value.
