Solar eclipse and rare alignment of 6 planets this Wednesday 12 August 2026

โ˜„๏ธ Learning Astronomy is more than just learning about stars and planets. It is a gateway to developing critical thinking skills, scientific literacy, and a deeper understanding of our place in the universe.

๐Ÿช So this morning to deepen our studentsโ€™ understanding of the amazing celestial body events, a workshop was organised for Sunfield City Schoolโ€™s upper primary pupils.

๐Ÿ“šThe objective of this workshop was to encourage cross-curricular learning. The chapter solar system is also a part of the PSAC syllabus which is assessed in national examinations of students.

๐Ÿ”ฆ A small experiment was held today using a torch, black bristol paper and a balloon to explain our students about the concept of eclipse.

๐ŸŒŒWe have asked our students to leave their mobile phones, finish their homework, take a break from the daily routine and to appreciate the stars and the sky tonight.

Sunfield City School celebrated the end of term multi cultural activity this week with the primary section with lots of colourful costumes and fantastic songs ๐ŸŽถ

Such activities form part of the overall development of a child. During the primary schooling, the pupils get the opportunities to develop academically and also get the chance to present their talent and acquire new hobbies.

Sunfield City Nursery and Pre-Primary Section celebrated its end of term multi cultural activity this week with lots of enthusiasm. Our teachers have choreographed our little Sunniesโ€™ dance steps.

Dancing is a natural and vital part of early childhood that helps children grow physically, mentally, and socially. Through movement, kids learn to control their bodies, express their feelings, and connect with others before they can even speak well.

Emergency Evacuation Drill at Sunfield City School & Nursery
Today our students, staff and management have participated in an emergency evacuation drill as part of the school and nursery activities.
The pupils were calm and looked forward to this event.
Briefing and TV sessions were done well in advance to explain the pupils about what a drill is and how it is performed.
Our fire wardens and emergency evacuation wardens did a wonderful job. ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฆบ
