The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with regional and international partners, is proud to announce the upcoming PoMiSA Conference 2025, to be held from 14 to16 October 2025 in Mauritius in a hybrid format.
Under the theme “Micro-Credentials for Skills Mobility and Lifelong Learning in Africa”, the conference will bring together policymakers, higher education institutions, quality assurance agencies, industry leaders, and international organisations to explore the future of micro-credentials in the Southern African region.
“PoMiSA is a regional movement to align education with the evolving needs of learners and labour markets,” said Prof Romeela Mohee, CSK, Commissioner, HEC.
Key Highlights:
• High-level panels featuring representatives from local universities (University of Mauritius, University of Technology, Mauritius), representatives from the Industry, international organisation such as UNESCO, SAQA and the Higher Education Commission, Mauritius.
• Interactive sessions on quality assurance, policy integration, and industry collaboration
The conference is part of the broader PoMiSA initiative (Policy and Monitoring of Micro-Credentials in Southern Africa), which aims to integrate micro-credentials into national education systems to promote skills recognition, employability, and regional mobility.
