🚀 Driving Financial Innovation in Mauritius! 🇲🇺

The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC) is pleased to host the Financial Innovation Dissemination of Project Results on Thursday, 3 September 2026, from 10:00 hrs at the MRIC.

The event will showcase innovative projects supported by MRIC, focusing on how technology and innovation can transform the financial services sector.

💡 Projects to be showcased include:
🔹 Risk Management and Reporting System
🔹 AI-Powered Digital Customer Onboarding Agent (AIDO)
🔹 Application of IoT in Telematics Insurance
🔹 Debt Exchange for enhanced liquidity and market efficiency
🔹 Integration of Attendance & Access Control with Business Software

These projects demonstrate the potential of AI, IoT, digital solutions and financial technology to improve efficiency, strengthen compliance, enhance customer experience and support the continued digital transformation of Mauritius.

Mauritius to Share Its Space Journey at the 71st Virtual UNISEC-Global Meeting.

We are pleased to share that Dr Vickram Bissonauth, Research Coordinator at the MRIC will be speaking at the 71st Virtual, University Space Engineering Consortium (UNISEC)-Global Meeting on 15 August 2026 during the J-CUBE/KiboCUBE Session.

His presentation, entitled :"From KiboCUBE to Capability: How MIR-SAT1 Shaped the Space Journey of Mauritius", will showcase how the KiboCUBE programme enabled Mauritius to launch it's first satellite, MIR-SAT1, and how this subsequently sparked the development of the country's space capabilities.

The presentation will highlight the progress of Mauritius in the space sector, from the successful launch of its first satellite to the development of a national Space Strategy, alongside growing international collaborations and efforts to harness space technologies for national development and innovation.

We thank UNISEC-Global and JAXA for the invitation and look forward to sharing Mauritius' space journey with the international community.

Mauritius Joins the Artemis Accords

Mauritius is honoured to become the 70th signatory of the Artemis Accords, marking an important milestone in our country's growing engagement in the peaceful exploration and use of outer space.
The Artemis Accords provide a practical framework of principles to guide international cooperation in civil space activities, promoting transparency, interoperability, peaceful exploration, and the responsible use of space resources.

For Mauritius, this step reflects our commitment to strengthening international partnerships, developing national capabilities in space science and technology, and leveraging space applications to address socio-economic and environmental challenges.

We thank our international partners and all stakeholders who contributed to this achievement. As an emerging space nation, Mauritius looks forward to collaborating with the global space community in advancing the peaceful and sustainable exploration of space for the benefit of humanity.

The Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), under the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research, has launched the R&D Survey 2025–2026. As the national focal point for UNESCO’s R&D data, MRIC collects key information from the Public Sector, Businesses, Tertiary Institutions, and Non-Profit Organisations.
