What an incredible morning at the Anahita 5KM Race! 🌟

Our team proudly took on the challenge, demonstrating determination, resilience, and a true spirit of perseverance from start to finish. Every step was a reminder that success comes through dedication, teamwork, and the courage to push beyond our limits.

A huge congratulations to all participants for their outstanding effort and positive attitude. Whether running for a personal best, fitness, or simply the joy of the experience, every runner crossed the finish line as a winner! 🏅

Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged us along the route. We are proud to have represented our school community and look forward to many more sporting adventures together.

📮 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 📮

Our learners had a wonderful educational visit to the local Post Office, where they discovered how letters and parcels are processed and delivered from one place to another.

The children were excited to learn about the important role the Post Office plays in our community. They had the opportunity to observe the different services offered and gain a better understanding of communication and mail delivery.

Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life and encourage curiosity about the world around us.

On 28 May, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.”
This special occasion honours the values of faith, kindness, gratitude, and sharing with others.

Oakdale Primary School and Ladybird Pre-Primary School extend warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all families celebrating this blessed occasion.

🔥 FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS 🔥

Today, our learners had an exciting and educational visit to the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service 🚒👨‍🚒

Our children learned important life-saving skills such as:

✅ What to do during a fire
✅ Why they should NEVER hide in the building
✅ How to safely evacuate a building
✅ How to crawl under smoke
✅ “STOP, DROP & ROLL”
✅ How to call the firefighters using ☎️ 115

One very important lesson shared by the firefighters was this:

🚨 When calling 115, children and adults must be SPECIFIC.

Instead of saying:
❌ “There is a fire!”

Say:
✅ “There is a fire at Palm Road (the address of the fire or at least the street name). Smoke is coming from the kitchen (where the fire is) and the table and curtains (what is burning) is/are on fire.”

This helps firefighters know:
✔️ Where the fire is
✔️ What is burning
✔️ Which equipment and tools to bring

🔥 FIRE SAFETY TIPS FOR EVERY HOME 🔥

• Keep matches and lighters away from children
• Check electrical plugs and wires regularly
• Practice a family escape plan
• Teach children emergency numbers
• Never go back inside a burning building
• Install smoke alarms if possible

As we enter the flu season, more children and adults are beginning to catch colds, coughs, flu, stomach bugs, and other infections. One of the simplest and most powerful ways to protect ourselves and others is through proper hand hygiene. 🤲✨

At Oakdale Primary School and Ladybird Pre-school Central Flacq, we are encouraging all our learners to develop strong handwashing habits every day. Teaching children how to wash their hands correctly helps reduce the spread of germs in classrooms, playgrounds, homes, and our community.

💙 Remember:
✔ Wash hands with soap and water regularly
✔ Scrub for at least 20 seconds
✔ Wash before eating and after using the toilet
✔ Cover coughs and sneezes
✔ Stay home and rest when feeling unwell

Healthy habits start young, and together we can help keep our school community safe, healthy, and strong during this flu season. 🌟

We had the incredible opportunity to welcome Mission Vert, alongside CMA CGM, for an eye-opening and impactful session on the effects of plastic pollution on our oceans and marine life. 🐢🐠

Our students were not only inspired by the powerful message shared, but they also took action! 💪🌍 Together, they participated in a clean-up activity, learning first-hand the importance of protecting our environment and becoming responsible global citizens.

Moments like these remind us that education goes beyond the classroom — it shapes values, builds awareness, and empowers our children to make a difference. 🌱
