What makes Lighthouse so special?

On the occasion of our most recent Open Day, we have released this brand-new video, which captures the essence of our beloved school.

We wanted our future parents and students to hear directly from the very heart of Lighthouse - students, teachers and staff - what, for them, makes our campus such a unique place to study and thrive.

Now we want to hear from YOU: what do you love the most about Lighthouse? Share it in the comments!

And if you enjoyed the video, make sure to like it, share it and invite others to follow our page to discover more about our vibrant school!

On Tuesday, 26 May, we hosted the Annual Interschool Public Speaking Competition, bringing together Grade 8 and Grade 9 students from Ecole du Nord, Northfields International School and Lighthouse.

The students performed outstanding speeches in front of a captivated audience and two judges from the English Speaking Union Mauritius .

At the end of the competition, we were thrilled and immensely proud to discover that Lighthouse had secured all four awards:

Level 1 – Grade 8
Winner: Julia Bradley
Runner-up: Liah Harmse
Level 2 – Grade 9
Winner: Adham Tunda
Runner-up: Amber Assonne

The victory was a first timer for our school!

We congratulate all participants from Lighthouse, École du Nord and Northfields for their admirable performances, and the thank the English Speaking Union for their special support.

What rimes with the best time of May? Lower Primary Sports Day!
Last Friday, our Reception, Grade 1 and Grade 2 champions had the opportunity to engage in fun races and games in front (and with!) their beloved parents. Such a great time for our little ones to do sports while enjoying themselves with their teachers and families!

Tell us: which kind of activities do you enjoy doing with your little ones to spend time?

Our Grade 4 had a wonderful time at camp two weeks ago!

This year's theme was INTEGRITY. To illustrate it, the students were given out three "special" beautiful looking gifts, which turned out to contain stinky, old rubbish!

Then, the young campers learned about that time when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, from the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 4. The camp included lots of fun times and even an energetic morning walk!

We look forward to taking our excellent Grade 4 students on Grade 5 camp for 2 nights next year!

Why do we give scholarships? And how does that work? - Lighthouse Primary & Secondary School 22/05/2026

Access to quality education should not depend on a family's income.

As a non-profit school, we exist to provide excellent, values-driven education. And our scholarship programme is a vital expression of that mission.

In 2026, we have 57 scholarship students (9% of our school body) amounting to MUR 6,030,000. This aid is made possible by a combination of allocated school funds and the generous support of donors.

What's more? Our scholarship students are not just recipients of financial aid.
They are active, thriving and inspiring members of our community. Some have even received the prestigious Lighthouse Award, granted to the graduating student who best represents our Core Values.

Last Tuesday, our learners from Grade 2 to Grade 6 had an exciting day at the Kids' Athletics Competition held at Morning Star School Mauritius, against Greencoast International Schools and the host school.

The atmosphere was filled with cheers, excitement, and great sportsmanship as our students gave their very best in every event. They participated in long jump, relay race and a vortex throw.

We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our teams — the 6–7-year-olds came first, the 8–9-year-olds also secured first place, and our 10–11-year-olds earned an impressive second place.

It was a fantastic day of teamwork, energy, and school spirit!

Before resuming classes in Term 2, we bid our Principal goodbye.

After serving at Lighthouse for more than 3 years, Mr Paul Beatty has retired and has gone back to his country, the United States.

To express our profound gratitude and affection for Mr Paul, we asked him to plant a tree bearing his name in the school's court. This Coqueluche (or Indian Beech Tree) will serve as a sign of his legacy at Lighthouse.

We wish Mr Paul a happy and well-deserved retirement, as well as all the best to his wife Ms Lucy, our former Secondary Maths teacher. We will forever cherish the memory of their time at our school.
