What makes a Genista training different? 🌊

This week we hosted Grzegorz Florek for an individual "AI in Education" training β€” and yes, he left with a toolbox full of practical AI tools he can use in his classroom tomorrow. Prompting, lesson planning, differentiation, admin automation β€” all tested hands-on, not just talked about.

But that's only half the story.

Because a Genista training isn't just a course. It's an immersion. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ή

Between sessions, Grzegorz went with us for a boat trip around the island, and his wife spent an afternoon helping out at our local church's summer club β€” surrounded by Gozitan kids, Gozitan noise, and Gozitan warmth. That's not an add-on. That's the point.

We believe teachers don't just need new tools β€” they need a new perspective. And there's no better way to get one than living, even briefly, inside a different community, a different rhythm, a different culture.

This is what sets our individual trainings apart: real skills + real Gozo. 🌿

Thinking about your own training here? Reach out β€” we'll build it around you. πŸ“©

🌿 DAY 5: The Last Piece Is Always the Table 🌿

You can teach mindfulness, boundaries and self-compassion all week β€” but the final lesson usually happens over food, shared with people who've spent five days being honest with each other.

Day 5 at Genista Research Foundation was our closing day: a real taste of Maltese food and culture, together as a group, before the week came full circle with our certificate ceremony. Five days of showing up for themselves ended the way it should β€” with gratitude, a few tears, and a table full of good food.

No lectures today. Just teachers, present, celebrating what they built together this week.

Thank you to every teacher who trusted this process. πŸ’š

🌿 DAY 4: Building Wellbeing, Piece by Piece 🌿

Wellbeing isn't one big thing you either have or don't. It's five smaller ones β€” and today we looked at all of them, honestly, one at a time.

Day 4 at Genista Research Foundation was built around a simple but powerful model: five different pillars of a thriving life, from joy to meaning to a real sense of accomplishment. Our teachers worked through each one for themselves β€” with a little quiet support from AI along the way β€” and walked away with something to protect, not just something to fix.

No lectures. Just teachers mapping out what actually keeps them going.

Which of these five is strongest for you right now β€” and which one could use a little more attention? πŸ‘‡

🌿 DAY 3: Three Seconds That Change Everything 🌿

A colleague snaps at you in the staff room. A parent corners you between lessons. Two students explode into an argument mid-lecture. What happens in the three seconds after?

That was the heart of Day 3 at Genista Research Foundation. Our teachers worked with AI to build their own short, personal self-regulation techniques β€” quick enough to actually use in the middle of a real school day, not just in theory.

Then we put it to the test: real classroom and staffroom scenarios, role-played live, pausing right at the peak of tension to practise choosing a response instead of just reacting.

No lectures. Just teachers rehearsing the pause they wish they'd had β€” so next time, they will.

What's a moment this week where you wish you'd had three extra seconds before reacting? πŸ‘‡

🌿 DAY 2: Cardboard Cities & Quiet Minds 🌿

Some of the best learning doesn't look like learning at all.

We started the day at Summer Club, building a whole cardboard city together with the children β€” glue, imagination, and a wonderful amount of chaos. Watching kids fully absorbed in creating something from nothing is its own quiet lesson in presence.

Then it was our turn to slow down. The second part of the day turned inward β€” a session on mindfulness and sensory overload, looking honestly at how much noise, light and stimulation we absorb every single day without noticing, and what happens to our bodies and minds when it becomes too much.

Two very different kinds of focus, same underlying question: how do we stay present in a world that never stops asking for our attention?

What's the last thing that made you feel completely, happily absorbed β€” like the kids with their cardboard city today? πŸ‘‡

🌿 DAY 1: Where am I? 🌿

Before we can help our students thrive, we have to ask ourselves an honest question: where is *my* own energy right now?

That's exactly where we started this week at Genista Research Foundation β€” our new 5-day workshop on Teacher Mental Health, Wellbeing & AI Integration, here on the island of Gozo. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ή

Day 1 was all about mapping our own energy and our digital selves β€” honest self-reflection, a few grounding practices tested live together, and AI used gently, as a support, never a replacement for our own awareness.

No lectures. No performative positivity. Just teachers, honestly naming where they are β€” and leaving with one small, doable practice for tomorrow morning.

Because you can't pour from an empty cup. 🍡

Four more days to go. 🌱
