🕊️ Remembering Don Antonio Mazzi 🕯️

The Byzantine Order of the Holy Sepulchre joins in mourning the passing of Don Antonio Mazzi, former Italian National Prelate of the Order and a priest whose lifelong ministry was dedicated to restoring hope and dignity to those most in need. Don Antonio served the Order with generosity and wisdom over a number of years, strengthening the spiritual life of our Grand Priory of Italy while remaining faithful to his wider vocation of service. We are especially grateful for the opportunity the Order had to support one of his charitable projects, a small expression of our shared commitment to the values of Christian charity and human dignity, which he embodied throughout his life. We pray that the Lord may welcome him into His eternal light and grant him everlasting rest. ✝️

✨ We are happy to share an update to the programme for Luce a Quattro Zampe in Jesolo next month 🤩 In addition to the main fund-raising event on Saturday 6th June in the evening, the Scuola Triveneta Cani Guida APS will be holding “A Dive into the World of Guide Dogs” at Bau Bau Beach on Sunday 7th June in the morning, during which attendees will be able to:
* meet trained guide dogs and future four-legged “superheroes” (including 'our' Amy) 🦮
* experience a blindfolded activity to better understand the daily life of visually impaired persons 👩‍🦯‍
* watch a special sea exercise involving guide dogs, organised by the National Lifeguard Assistants Association 🌊
✌️Two events ☝️ one shared goal: promoting autonomy, inclusion, and awareness through the extraordinary value of guide dogs 🐾

✨ There are evenings that leave a lasting impression, and then there are evenings that can change a life ✨
💛 On 6th June 2026, in the splendid setting of Hotel Casa Bianca al Mare in Jesolo, we will experience the second edition of "Luce a Quattro Zampe", a charity event created to support the Scuola Triveneta Cani Guida APS (Triveneto Guide Dog School) and contribute to the donation of a guide dog for a blind person 🦮
🎼A special evening filled with emotion, solidarity, music, and beauty, accompanied by live piano performances by the extraordinary Giulia Vazzoler – The Italian Piano Girl 🎹

Yesterday, we honoured tradition by accompanying the revered statue of The Burial of Christ, known locally as 'Il-Monument', during the annual Good Friday Procession in Qormi 🕯️ Traditionally reserved for parish priests, this distinguished role was entrusted to our Order's Grand Priory of Malta in 2006 - making this year the 20th anniversary of our continued participation, and a testament to the enduring trust and esteem for our spiritual mission and presence 🙏
OBSS was represented in this solemn procession by the Grand Master Prof. Leonie Baldacchino, the Grand Chancellor Marquis Gr. Cr. Anthony C. Coleiro, the Grand Ceremonist Count Gr. Cr. Christian Wintersteiger, Marquis Gr. Cr. Mario Dingli, Countess Dame Gr. Off. Annamaria Pozzi, Bailiff of Sicily Gr. Off. Lorenzo Albergo, Gr. Off. Carmel Bianchi, Comm. Kevin Attard, Chev. On Friday 16 January we held the first OBSS Malta Council Meeting of 2026 and inaugurated our new International Chancery in Attard ⚔️😁 (Please note: we are no longer in Valletta) 🏛️
We were also delighted to celebrate the birthdays of three very special members of our community: our Grand Dame Marchioness Georgina Ventura, our National Hospitaller Marchioness Dame Grace Coleiro, and our Lieutenant Marquis Chev. Raymond Cortis 🍾🥂 Ad multos annos! 🥳🎉

COMMUNIQUÉ FROM OBSS INTERNATIONAL CHANCERY
In these first days of the new year, tragically marked by the events that occurred in Crans-Montana, in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland, the Byzantine Order of the Holy Sepulchre wishes to express its deepest and most respectful condolences.
The Order joins in mourning the young lives so cruelly lost, extends its heartfelt solidarity to those who were injured, and expresses its closeness to the Swiss people and to all families affected by this profound tragedy. In this moment of sorrow, pain unites individuals and nations beyond all borders.
May the memory of the victims be preserved with dignity, and may solidarity, compassion, and hope accompany all those who suffer.
