🎨 Week 6: The Baroque Period! 🎨

This week, our little artists stepped into the fascinating world of the Baroque period, exploring how artists used light, shadow, contrast and detail to bring their paintings to life. βœ¨πŸ–ŒοΈ

Our younger artists discovered Rembrandt and looked at his beautiful artworks featuring windmills. Inspired by his dramatic use of light and dark, they created their very own windmill paintings on black paper, using white chalk to explore contrast, light and shade. πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ–€

The 9–11 year old group studied Caravaggio and his famous Basket of Fruit still life. πŸŽπŸ‡ They each chose a section of the artwork to study closely and recreated it on their own square canvas, focusing on detail, colour and composition.

Our oldest artists discovered Johannes Vermeer and his iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring.
They then created their own versions, exploring Vermeer’s beautiful use of light, colour and expression.

Another wonderful week of creativity, discovery and lots of artistic fun! πŸŽ¨πŸ’«

🌟 Week 5 of our Summer Art Classes – The Renaissance! πŸ“œ

This week, our young artists travelled back in time to explore the fascinating world of Renaissance Art! 🎨

πŸ–ΌοΈ Our younger groups learned about the great artist Leonardo da Vinci, focusing on one of the world's most famous paintings, the Mona Lisa. Inspired by this iconic masterpiece, they created their own unique interpretations using line art.

πŸ›οΈ Our older groups explored the beauty and architectural brilliance of the dome of St Peter’s Basilica, designed by the great Renaissance artist Michelangelo. They created their own precise pencil drawings of the dome, carefully observing its structure and details, before bringing their artwork to life with watercolour.

I am incredibly proud of everything our young artists achieved this week! It has been wonderful to see so much creativity, enthusiasm and imagination in every class. ❀️

And the finished artworks? Absolutely beautiful! 😍🎨

Week 4 of Summer Art Classes – The Middle Ages! πŸ“œβœ¨
This week, our young artists stepped back in time to explore the fascinating world of Medieval Art.

🎨 Our younger groups discovered the beauty of illuminated manuscripts and decorative initials. Inspired by medieval scribes, they painted the first letter of their name on canvas using authentic Gothic-style lettering and embellished it with colourful floral motifs, just as artists did during the Middle Ages.

β›ͺ Our older groups explored the magnificent Gothic period, learning about the architecture of Gothic cathedrals and the intricate beauty of the rose window. They then created their own stunning rose window designs on glass, choosing their own vibrant colour combinations to bring their artwork to life.

I am incredibly proud of what everyone achieved this week. It has been wonderful to see so much creativity, enthusiasm, and imagination in every class.

The finished artworks are absolutely beautiful!

Week 3 of Summer Art Classes – Greek & Roman Art! 🏺✨

This week, our young artists travelled back in time to discover the fascinating world of Greek and Roman Art.

🎨 Our youngest artists explored the beauty of Ancient Greek pottery and created their own decorative pottery plates using paper plates and paint.

πŸ›οΈ Our older group learned about Greek architecture and used soft pastels to create beautiful drawings of Ionic columns, paying close attention to shape, light, and texture.

πŸ›‘οΈ Our 11+ students took on the challenge of designing and constructing a Roman soldier's face and helmet using just a paper plate, showing fantastic creativity and problem-solving skills.

I am incredibly proud of everything our students achieved this week. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, enthusiasm, and confidence grow with every lesson. The finished artworks are absolutely fantastic!
