π¨ Week 6: The Baroque Period! π¨
This week, our little artists stepped into the fascinating world of the Baroque period, exploring how artists used light, shadow, contrast and detail to bring their paintings to life. β¨ποΈ
Our younger artists discovered Rembrandt and looked at his beautiful artworks featuring windmills. Inspired by his dramatic use of light and dark, they created their very own windmill paintings on black paper, using white chalk to explore contrast, light and shade. π¬οΈπ€
The 9β11 year old group studied Caravaggio and his famous Basket of Fruit still life. ππ They each chose a section of the artwork to study closely and recreated it on their own square canvas, focusing on detail, colour and composition.
Our oldest artists discovered Johannes Vermeer and his iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring.
They then created their own versions, exploring Vermeerβs beautiful use of light, colour and expression.
Another wonderful week of creativity, discovery and lots of artistic fun! π¨π«
