As part of their exam revision, our Year 7 and Year 8 German students have been making use of school laptops and mobile devices to participate in engaging quizzes. These interactive activities provided a fun and effective way to revise vocabulary, grammar, and key language structures while encouraging collaboration among classmates.

Furthermore, our Year 7 students brought the language to life through a restaurant role-play activity. By acting out real-life situations, students practised ordering food and drinks in German, including the traditional Apfelschorle, developing their speaking and listening skills in an authentic and enjoyable context.

Simultaneously, year 10 students used the outdoor school areas to practice their speaking skills in various situations.

We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm and commitment as they continue to build their confidence in using German both inside and outside the classroom.

The Erik Award is a new initiative launched by the German Department this scholastic year. This introduction intends to recognise and award more than just grades in the learning of German. It aims to celebrate learners showing effort, commitment and positive attitude. Students deserving of this award were those exhibiting enthusiasm for learning the German language, active participation in lessons, consistent effort and progress, positive contribution to the class and a general interest in German beyond the classroom. In other words - a genuine love for the German language.

We congratulate a big number of students who received an award certificate. A special applause goes to winners Matthias Abdilla (7.8) and Gabriela Angelita (9.11) who each received a plaque and a book in recognition of their exceptional effort.

Well-done to all students!

Thanks go to the German Department and Educational Officer Ms Erica Kawka Armeni for introducing this new annual award.

On Saturday, 6th June 2026, three of our Year 7 students, Iyad Eissa (7.4), Moses Aaron Perrett (7.5), and Pedro De Palacio Ruiz (7.5), participated in the Maltese Preliminary Rounds of the Chinese Bridge Competition for Primary and Secondary School students. We are proud to share that Moses achieved 2nd place in the Primary Division 🎉🥳.

In this event, students were invited to deliver a speech in Chinese on a topic of their choice and showcase their talents through a performance related to Chinese language and culture. They were then assessed on their language proficiency, stage presence, and overall performance.

The Chinese Bridge is much more than a Chinese language competition; it is a bridge of language, friendship, and culture that connects China with the rest of the world.

A huge congratulations to our students for their participation and outstanding performances. It is truly inspiring to see them deepen their passion for and interest in the Chinese language and culture.
Stepping onto that stage takes courage, confidence, and dedication, and they should all be incredibly proud of their achievements!

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta and the Ministry for Education and Sport for organising this event, as well as the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malta for their continued support.

We wish the best of luck to the winners as they move on to the international stage in China 🇨🇳!

The Julian’s Pathfinder Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Malta and the Directorate for STEM and VET Programmes, launched the fifth edition of the Julian’s Tech Startup Challenge Forever Young. The selected theme for this year focuses on extending human longevity, and Prof. Pierre Schembri Wismayer directs the programme. The programme aims to challenge high-ability students to explore the multidisciplinary facets of extending healthy human lifespans, including scientific, medical, psychological, socio-economic, and ethical considerations. The initiative was open to students in Years 9, 10 and 11 who were born after 4th September 2010.

Well done to Dorotea Pirillo (9.8) and Marko Kuvichkin(10.8), who made it to the top 24! They took a 30-minute online cognitive test, and after being shortlisted, they had to submit an essay on this year’s theme.

Our students will attend a four-day camp at Mount Saint Joseph Retreat House, Mosta, from Tuesday, 1st to Friday, 4th September 2026, offering a valuable opportunity for growth and collaboration.

Well done, Dorotea and Marko! Your participation and achievements are truly commendable and inspire your peers to pursue excellence.
