前回とまた視点を変えて海の煌めきをお届けしたいと思います。エメラルドグリーンの海が風で揺らめいて、まるでモザイク柄の様に見えます。同じ海でも場所を変え、距離感を変え、時間を変え、見る角度を変えそれぞれ全く違うものに見え、自然の美しさに飽きることはありません。

I would like to show the glitter of the sea from a different perspective than last time. The emerald green sea sways in the wind and looks like a mosaic pattern. Even in the same sea, from different places, different senses of distances, different time and different viewing angles, then each looks completely fresh, and you will never get tired of the beauty of nature.

水面に反射した光が天然のスパンコールの様にキラキラときれいで、いつまでも見ていられます。午後7時を過ぎても明るい太陽、ゆっくり進む船、横切る鳥、ビルに木…一つ一つは特別なものでは無いですが、こうやって切り取ってみると、自分だけの特別なマルタを発見出来ます。

The light reflected on the surface of the water looks like natural sequins and you can see it forever. Still the bright sun after 7pm, slowly moving boats, crossing birds, trees in buildings ... Each one is not special, but when you cut it out like this you can discover your own special Malta.

Manoel Island にふわふわのカルガモ赤ちゃんが誕生しました。色んな他の鳥や、モルモット、うさぎ、猫…みんな仲良く共存している不思議な空間です。

Fluffy spot-billed duck babies were born in the Manoel Island. Various other birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, cats ... It's a peaceful space where everyone coexists in harmony.

マルタが猫の島であることを表す様な銅像のあるインディペンデンスガーデンからは、とてもきれいな夜景が見られます。sliemaの大通り沿いですので、街からのアクセスもとても良く、買い物帰りにチラッと横を見るとこんな風景が広がっていた…なんてこともありそうです。自然の美しさはもちろんですが、夜の街明かりや海に反射する明かりもマルタの魅力のひとつですね。

A very beautiful night view can be seen from the Independence Garden with a statue seems like representing Malta as a cat island. It's along the main street of sliema so it's very easy to access from the city, and when you see at the side on your way home from shopping without thinking anything, you can see this kind of scenery. Not only the beauty of nature, but also the city lights at night and the lights reflected on the sea are one of the attractions of Malta.

マルタの海水は透明度がとても高いので、遠くの景色がきれいに写ります。逆さ富士ならぬ逆さヴァレッタ…これぞまさに自然界のアートです。写真を撮る際のアングル次第で、色んな表情のマルタを発見出来ます。

The seawater in Malta is so clear that can be reflected of the scenery in the distance. Upside down Valletta, like upside down Fuji ... This is exactly the art of the natural world. Depending on the angle at which you take the picture, you can discover Malta of various expressions.

日本にいるとイースターを感じられるのはディズニーランドかカルディくらいな気がしますが…イースターはイエス・キリストが復活したことを記念・記憶する、キリスト教において最も重要な祭事で、マルタはキリスト教をとても大切に考える人が多い為、今年の4月4日の日曜日イースターホリデーは、マルタの国全体がとても静かでした。スーパーマーケットですらほとんどどこもやっておりません。写真のケーキはフィゴッラFigollaという、アーモンド風味のペーストが中に入った大きなクッキーの様な、イースターのお祝いには欠かせないマルタの伝統的なお菓子です。イースターが近くなると至る所で購入出来、お店によって見た目も様々でとても可愛いです。手作りする家庭も多いそうなので、マルタに来た際にはチャレンジしてみてはいかがでしょうか。アイシングのデザインにはセンスを問われるかもしれません、、！

I wonder it's only the Tokyo Disneyland or the Cardies that you can feel Easter in Japan ... Easter is the most important Christian festival to commemorate and remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and there are lots of Christians in Malta. The whole country of Malta was very quiet on Sunday Easter Holiday on April 4th this year as many people take it very importantly. Even most supermarkets closed at the day. The cake in the photo is called Figolla, a traditional Maltese pastry that is indispensable for Easter celebrations, like a large cookie with almond-flavored paste inside. You can buy it everywhere near Easter, and it looks very cute and variusly depends on each stores. Many families make handmade Figolla so why not try it when you come to Malta? You may be challenged with the design of the icing!

まるで物語の中の様な名前のこの場所は、トレッキングに最適な少し急な丘です。途中で洞窟もあり、時間によってはとても印象的な美しい夕焼けを見る事が出来るでしょう。マルタの中でも高い位置にある為、見渡しも最高です。

Top of the world
Named like a fairy tale, this place is a slightly steep hill perfect for trekking. There is also a cave along the way, and depending on the time you can see a very impressive and beautiful sunset. Because it is located high in Malta, the view is the best.

ゴゾ島の中心部ヴィクトリアには城壁に囲まれたチタデル(大要塞)があります。小高い丘の上に建てられており、美しいヴィクトリアの街並が一望出来ます。またチタデルの中には大聖堂や博物館などあり、アクセスも良い為、いつもたくさんの人で賑わっています。

There’s the walled Citadel in Victoria where’s the heart of Gozo. it on a small hill overlooks the beautiful Victoria cityscape. In addition, there are a cathedral and a museum in the Citadel, and it is easily accessible so it is always crowded with many people.

お休みの日はマルタの一部でもあるゴゾ島にお出かけしてみてはいかがでしょうか。きれいな海はもちろん、マルタとは違った面白さがあります。ここはXwejni bay、近くに塩田もあり見応えがあります。バスでのアクセスは正直悪いのですが…訪れればきっとリラックス出来る事でしょう。IAMではゴゾ島の施設も積極的に使っていく事を検討中ですので、乞うご期待下さいませ。

Why not go to Gozo where’s also part of Malta on your days off. Not to mention the beautiful sea, there’s something different from Malta. This is the Xwejni bay, and there’s a salt pan nearby so it's worth seeing. Access by bus is honestly no good, but if you visit you will surely be able to relax. IAM is considering actively using the facilities on Gozo, so please look forward to it.

静寂の街と言われるマルタの古都イムディーナ Mdina、そんな旧市街の中にある警察署です。街の雰囲気に馴染みつつも、鮮やかなブルーのドアや窓枠に、遊び心のあるモダンなデザインのランプは日本ではなかなか見られない光景です。

Mdina, the ancient capital of Malta, where is said to be a city of silence, is a police station in such an old town. While familiar with the atmosphere of the city, a bright blue door and a window frame, and the playful and modern design of a lamp might be difficult to find in Japan.

今回もまたヴァレッタvallettaの街の話を。大きなメイン通りにはたくさんの有名なブランド店やカフェやレストランが並んでおり、いつもとても賑やかですが、入り組んだ路地の静かな雰囲気もまたvallettaの大きな魅力です。クリーム色のマルタストーンで出来た建物は圧迫感を感じさせず、細い道も心地良く散歩する事が出来ます。ガイドブックには載っていない様な、自分だけのお気に入りの小さなお店を見つけられたり、地元の方々との何気ない会話にも癒されたり、ここでもマルタならではの、素晴らしい体験をする事が出来ます。

Let's talk about the city of Valletta again ! The large main street is lined with many famous brand shops, cafes and restaurants and is always very busy, but the quiet atmosphere of the narrow alleys is also a big attraction of valletta. The building made of cream-colored Maltese stone does not make us feel oppressive, and you can walk comfortably on. You can find your own favorite small shop that is not listed in the guidebook, also healed by casual conversations with the locals and so on, then here you can also have a wonderful experience unique to Malta.
