A little recap from Science in the City ๐Ÿ”Ž

We were happy to be part of this yearโ€™s event, giving visitors the chance to explore forensic science through hands-on activities, conversations and our crime-scene challenge.

It was especially nice to see so much curiosity from younger visitors and to make science feel a little more interactive, practical and accessible.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, took part and spoke with us!

EFI at EUROCRIM 2026.
The European Forensic Institute was represented at EUROCRIM 2026 in Warsaw by Sofia Maria Russo, one of our current Masterโ€™s students.
After completing her bachelorโ€™s studies with EFI, Sofia is now continuing with a Masterโ€™s in Investigative Forensic Psychology, Crime Analysis and Criminology.

At EUROCRIM 2026, she presented her research on geographical profiling and the use of environmental and land-use data within Rossmoโ€™s Criminal Geographic Targeting model.

Her presentation formed part of the panel โ€œAdvances in Quantitative Methods: Spatial Data and Spatial Analysis of Crimeโ€ and opened discussions around spatial analysis, geographical profiling and how these methods can contribute to investigative decision-making.

Seeing our students take their research beyond the classroom is always a proud moment. Experiences like EUROCRIM open the door to new ideas, new connections and new directions for future research.

Forensic Psychology vs Investigative Psychology ๐Ÿ”Ž
Theyโ€™re closely connected, but they focus on different parts of the criminal justice process.
Forensic psychology works within legal and criminal justice settings, while investigative psychology focuses more directly on criminal investigations, behaviour and crime patterns.
Same field of interest. Different role.
Know the difference.

๐Ÿ”Ž No body. But enough evidence to tell the story.

When attorney Steven Cozzi disappeared, investigators were left with a bloodstained crime scene and a trail of forensic and digital evidence.

In an unusual turn, the accused represented himself and waived a jury trial, leaving the verdict to the judge.
