Makerspace: Where STEM Ideas Take Flight

We are proud to celebrate the incredible journey of our 'Makerspace: Where STEM Ideas Take Flight' project, made possible through the support of Xjenza Malta and Esplora Malta funding.

This initiative has transformed a dedicated space within our school into a vibrant STEAM learning environment, equipped with a wide range of innovative resources that inspire creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving.

By means of this dedicated room, our students have engaged in numerous hands-on STEAM lessons, exploring real-world challenges through inquiry, design, making and innovation. The Makerspace has become a hub where ideas are transformed into meaningful learning experiences.

The impact of the project has extended beyond our classrooms. We were delighted to organise community initiatives that brought learning and innovation to a wider audience, including:
🔹 Family workshops that encouraged parents and children to create and learn together.
🔹 Collaborations with local organisations, strengthening links between our school and the community.
🔹 Student exhibitions showcasing the creativity, skills and achievements of our young makers.

A heartfelt thank you to Xjenza Malta and Esplora Malta for investing in opportunities that empower our students to explore, invent and dream big. Together, we are nurturing the scientists, engineers, designers and innovators of tomorrow. Special thanks to Ms Maria Muscat, the coordinator of this project together with the help of Ms Dorita Maniscalco.

🎉 Outstanding Achievement! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the remarkable success of our Year 5 student, Aiden John Mifsud, who achieved 1st place overall among both Year 5 and Year 6 participants in the High 5 Junior Mathematicians Challenge.

The High 5 Junior Mathematicians Challenge is an annual enrichment programme for gifted Year 5 and Year 6 students, organised by the Primary Maths Support Team within the Directorate for STEM and VET Programmes. The challenge encourages young mathematicians to develop their problem-solving, reasoning and analytical skills through engaging mathematical activities.

Congratulations, Aiden! We are immensely proud of you and we wish you continued success in all your future endeavours.

Ms Sarah Agius and Ms Susan Galea Ciappara recently took part in an Erasmus+ Job Shadowing experience at Osnovna Šola Pivka in Slovenia. During their visit, they worked alongside educators from Slovenia, Italy, and Turkey, exploring different teaching approaches and gaining valuable insights into innovative and inclusive education.
The experience offered many opportunities to observe engaging classroom practices, including educational robotics, coding, digital storytelling, AI tools, and outdoor learning activities. These sessions showed how technology and creative teaching methods can support students of different abilities, encourage collaboration, and make learning more meaningful and enjoyable. It was also a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from other educators, and build international connections.
Participating in Erasmus+ programmes is a valuable form of professional development for teachers. It encourages the sharing of good practices, broadens perspectives, and inspires new ideas that can be brought back into the classroom. We are grateful for this enriching experience and look forward to sharing what we have learned with our colleagues and students.
