Another year gone by but never forgotten…

Although the day is over and the night is dark, our memories will still live on but not for just another day… the sweet or sad memories of our loved ones, we will continue to share amongst our friends and families. Today reminds us of the loss we felt for our dear Mr John (Artistic Director John Baldacchino 19.02.1942 - 15.02.2007)… his passion for dance, music & theatre was overwhelming... memories which will never be forgotten!

The day is nearly over but today marked the 27th anniversary of Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet, training and coaching Russian Classical Ballet - Legat System. Olivia and her dear John opened the doors of the school's ballet studio in Gharghur for the first time on the 23rd of September 1993 for a handful of very young enthusiastic students, having then moved on to an official studio in Naxxar in September 1997. A dream fulfilled and rightly so as these very young enthusiastic pupils, now in their 30's, have flourished in their own separate ways including those countless other pupils who were caught up and embraced the artistic web Olivia and John created over the years. A few have now beautiful offspring; others pursued an uprising career instead; quite a few accomplished their teaching qualifications; some continued their love for dance in different forms; and many more who simply left to move on in their life. "If Ballet be the Food of Love, Dance on... Dance Little Ballerinas Dance", the last ballet production set up in 2019 appropriately calls out to all the pupils who had formed part of the school, they will never be forgotten!

Further to our notice last week, please be advised that the ballet school will remain closed until the health authorities advise otherwise.

Further to the official directives issued by the State regarding temporary closure of schools and parents’/teachers’ concerns; we feel it is in everybody’s interest that we follow suit and we shall not be holding any lessons as from tomorrow 13th March to 20th March, both dates included. According to the situation next week, we will then advise when lessons can recommence.

Malta Red Cross First Aid course held on 23rd/24th Feb at Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet. To all the teachers, thank you very much for attending but a special thank you to the instructor Lucy Cilia.
