The Blue Dot is a creative studio where children can explore & develop creatively, acquiring skills & confidence.

Our sessions are project-based experiences, which focus on the process of creating & not just the final result 💙🖌🎨

ArtMaking inspired by Maltese PreHistory. We had a look at birds eye views of the temples of Ggantija - Hagar Qim and the motifs + sculptures found which date to 3600 BC - 2500 BC.
We loved seeing how the little artists engaged with our history, interpreting the symbols & ideas to create their own artwork.

From adapting the temple plans to design our own, to using cardboard to make an abstracted interpretation, and clay to make our sculptures inspired by the Sleeping Lady 🥰✨

We plan each of our workshops with a theme that inspires the imagination of our students, their curiosity about the world around them & allows them to learn + explore ideas in a very hands on way 💕

The countdown to the Autumn Term of Afternoon ArtMaking has begun 🧡 & we're sharing a few projects we love from past years✨
We start on the 6th October with weekly sessions which bring together artistic techniques, artist references, creative themes + a lot of imagination.

A little spotlight on the colourful scenes + detailed drawings we created during our week exploring Mexico through ArtMaking 🌺

We looked at the iconic colourful houses, the plants + landscapes of the area & planned our original compositions.

Our older students chose their preferred medium for this piece, from pencil drawing to watercolour + acrylic paint on canvas 🩷
Following 8 weeks of ArtMaking we are so proud to see how much their skills + confidence have grown 💕

Week 8 🦜🌺🏘️🪡

The final week of Summer Camp at The Blue Dot where we worked hard on finishing off the pending projects + including a few exciting ones too! We had a week of rainbows + sunshine at the studio, brightening up our workspace and making every day feel even more special.

Our little artists stitched, sketched, painted on fabric + canvas & grew more in confidence in their abilities. We love to look back at how much each kid grows over the Summer, discovering new skills, interests + making friends and memories ✨

Thank you to all who joined us, especially those who join us year after year 😍 We would be looking forward to this special season at the studio for quite a while & it's very bittersweet to see it come to an end 🫶❤️

Week 7 of our Summer at the Studio ✨🪴🌿🏘️

A week with a little bit of everything : painting on canvas, sewing, sketching + painting from life, planning out our original symbols + painting on wood.
A week full of smiles, creativity + seeing our little artists put what they have learnt over the weeks into their projects 🤗

A few moments from our Spring Term Afternoon Sessions to let you know that Registration for the Autumn Term is now Open 🩵✨

We'll be starting this October, giving the kids enough time to settle in their new school routine & to be ready to include a dose of hands-on creativity in their week 🥳

Sessions will be on weekly Tuesday - Friday at the studio & you can choose the afternoon that suits your schedule best 💙

Clay portraits in profile, inspired by one of our all time favourite sculptures : Nefertiti 🫶

Our little artists had a close look at Egyptian art and artefacts, focused on sketching portraits in profile and combined their skills to create these beautiful terracotta clay portraits 💚

☕🪡🧵 Sewing these gorgeous felt teacups with our Summer Campers 🧵🪡☕
From designing the shape of each teacup, choosing + cutting the fabric & stitching the beaded patterns, each teacup records a learning journey 🩷
We are so proud of how well each little artist worked on this project, learning + improving their skills as well as challenging themselves 🥰✨
