✈️ Webinar: Artificial Intelligence in the Flight Deck
How will Artificial Intelligence reshape the future of aviation? Can Large Language Models safely support pilots in high-workload, time-critical environments?
Join us for a two-hour live webinar exploring how AI could become a trusted “digital co-pilot” in tomorrow’s flight deck.
📅 Thursday, 12th March 2026
⏰ 09:00 – 11:00 (CET)
🌍 Open to the general public — especially pilots, aviation professionals, researchers, and students.
This webinar will present the latest findings from ARTIAP (Artificial Intelligence-based Additional Pilot) — an ongoing research and innovation project funded by Xjenza Malta.
The ARTIAP project is investigating the integration of Artificial Intelligence — particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) — in the flight deck to support:
✈️ Information synthesis in high-workload environments
🧠 Complex decision-making
👁️ Enhanced situation awareness
🤝 Human-AI collaboration in safety-critical operations
Whether you’re an active pilot, aviation stakeholder, AI researcher, student, or simply interested in the future of intelligent systems in aviation, this session will provide valuable insights into cutting-edge developments at the intersection of AI and aerospace.

📽️ Listen to the voices leading the transition of AI from research to operational reality in European ATM!
📍On 5 December 2025, the final dissemination event "AI in Innovation" of the ASTRA, TRUSTY, SynthAIr, and CODA-ATC project took place in Bled.
Relive how the event unfolded through our project leads! We focused on moving beyond the AI "buzz" to demonstrate concrete solutions for system modernization and human-centric innovation. Supported by the Engage 2 network, the event hosted over 60 experts that participated in the discussion and tried hands-on the demos produced within the projects.
👏A special thanks to all the speakers, partners, and the SESAR community for contributing to this significant exchange between academia and industry.

Last week, we took part in Kurzita Jiem, an outreach event for schoolchildren held at the Esplora Interactive Science Centre, aimed at sparking an early interest in STEM subjects.
We welcomed many Year 4 and Year 5 students from local schools to our stand, where they had the opportunity to learn more about what we do and to discover the exciting world of aviation.

Last week, Dr Leander Grech, a researcher at the Institute of Aerospace Technologies, attended the AIAA SciTech Forum in Orlando, Florida, where he presented a paper on the final results of ASTRA, an EU-funded project coordinated by the University of Malta.
The paper offers an in-depth look at the human-in-the-loop validation of the ASTRA solution for reducing airspace complexity. In particular, it examines how the solution performed in a realistic operational environment to support Flow Management Positions (FMPs) when handling complex tactical scenarios.
