Yesterday was a special day.

I had the honour to deliver an online webinar on financial wellbeing to LiveScore, a company that employs hundreds of people worldwide.

A range of topics were covered, including:

Mastering Money Management: Practical tips to budget effectively without feeling restricted.

Investing Basics: Understanding how to make your money work for you through smart investments.

Financial Stress & Mental Wellbeing: How improving your relationship with money can reduce stress and improve your focus and productivity at work.

Planning for the Future: Building an emergency fund, saving for retirement, and safeguarding your loved ones’ future.

What stood out most, however, were the insightful and personal questions from participants. It’s always a reminder of how common financial struggles are—regardless of income or profession—and how deeply they affect people’s lives.

The feedback I received has left me feeling grateful and inspired. It’s clear that financial wellbeing is no longer just a ‘nice-to-have’ topic; it’s essential for a thriving and resilient workforce.

I look forward to more opportunities like this to help break the money taboos that hold so many back from true empowerment.

"How do I teach my teen about money without the Excel sheet boredom?"

As a parent myself, I've been receiving lots of such questions in the past few months. In fact I have made it my top priority helping parents teach their children about money—one of the most valuable legacies we can pass on.

Recently, through my popular column on Times of Malta I advised a mum whose teenage son wanted to learn about finances but got bored with Excel and was more intrigued by crypto and trading. Here’s what I told her:

1️⃣ Share your story: Don’t just talk numbers; explain your why. Stories, like how an emergency fund saved you in tough times, stick far more than rules.

2️⃣ Involve them: Grocery shopping, budgeting holidays, or saving for their next gaming console—real-life experiences teach the value of money.

3️⃣ Make it fun: Board games like Monopoly (but modernised) are great for learning money basics in an engaging way.

4️⃣ Stay open-minded: If they’re curious about crypto, guide them with stories of both success and failure to teach them the bigger picture.

At 18, my dad lost his job

We had nothing—𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐭, 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.

Success was all about escaping that fear —

➟ Hustling relentlessly for the next promotion, raise, or “win.”

➟ Stacking money and ticking off goals like they were chores on a list.

➟ Building funds worrying about emergencies

But as time passed, 𝐦𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝.

Today, It’s about living life on my terms —

☑ Prioritising health, deep relationships, and personal growth.

☑ Valuing experiences, cherishing moments, and the people around me.

Success isn’t just about reaching the next financial milestone;

It’s about appreciating the essence of life, not just the material side of it.

Because true wealth —it’s about living well.
