Wow! An amazing first week in La Clusaz!

Joined by a wonderful faculty, students experienced a range of expedition teaching and simulation in the stunning French Alps. We hope they have had as much fun as we have and will continue to build on the skills and knowledge they have explored this week.

A huge thank you to the students and CTFs for creating a fantastic learning environment and to the faculty for sharing your wealth of experience and advice.

What an incredible 4 weeks with 4 incredible groups of students! Thank you for throwing yourself into the Faraway Medicine experience. We hope you had as much fun learning as we did. It has been a privilege to watch you grow as teams, as leaders and as PHEM doctors of the future!

Some of the best bits of Week 3 in La Clusaz! This weeks highlights included a flipped classroom exercise, high fidelity simulation on climbing and paragliding accidents and a workshop on ‘communicating under pressure’ with Professor Rollnick!

This year we had 4 groups of medical students join us in the French Alps for a jam packed week of PHEM, expedition medicine, communication, teamwork and Crew Resource Management!

This week’s PHEM students got to witness a live RSI demonstration as part of their high fidelity simulation. World-class teaching from GWACC’s fantastic Critical Care Paramedic Callum and Critical Care Doctor Sophie !

Happy International Paramedics Day !!!! A day to celebrate the incredible work of paramedics and first responders and recognise the crucial role they play in PHEM teams.

A special shoutout to one of the incredible faculty members we have in La Clusaz this week, Callum Sutton! Callum currently works as a Specialist Critical Care Paramedic with GWACC. He brings invaluable PHEM experience from his time with the London Ambulance Service.
