Faraway Medicine We are expedition medics with extensive experience providing medical cover in extreme environments and are dedicated to training others in this area.

We also offer consultancy to expeditions, and medical cover for expeditions and research work. We are dedicated to teaching and training other medics in the area of wilderness medicine, preparing them to work safely in a remote environment. Our enthusiastic trainers aim to provide you with the resources needed to venture into the world of extreme environments and expedition medicine. It is a move

that you will not regret! Expedition Medicine combines teamwork with being in a demanding environment, being the team doctor for a group of people with whom you are also living/cooking/trekking etc. We love the challenge of being ready for any eventuality and the ability to improvise and think on your feet, in remote and unsupported environments… whether it is in the middle of an arctic snowstorm, on the crest of a mountain range or in the depths of a humid jungle.

What an epic 2 weeks for the Bristol medical students in Gozo! 2 groups of fired up students travelled to Gozo for a week of dive medicine and a side of diving with .

Thank you to the students, faculty and Swindon CTFs for making an amazing educational environment despite an intense couple of weeks of teaching, diving and surprise simulations!

We hope you had as much fun as we did! Bring on week 3 💪💪

NB. All injuries are fake! No CTFs/interns were harmed in the making of the Sims :)

Wow! An amazing first week in La Clusaz!

Joined by a wonderful faculty, students experienced a range of expedition teaching and simulation in the stunning French Alps. We hope they have had as much fun as we have and will continue to build on the skills and knowledge they have explored this week.

A huge thank you to the students and CTFs for creating a fantastic learning environment and to the faculty for sharing your wealth of experience and advice.

Some of the best bits of Week 3 in La Clusaz! This weeks highlights included a flipped classroom exercise, high fidelity simulation on climbing and paragliding accidents and a workshop on ‘communicating under pressure’ with Professor Rollnick!

This year we had 4 groups of medical students join us in the French Alps for a jam packed week of PHEM, expedition medicine, communication, teamwork and Crew Resource Management!

Happy International Paramedics Day !!!! A day to celebrate the incredible work of paramedics and first responders and recognise the crucial role they play in PHEM teams.

A special shoutout to one of the incredible faculty members we have in La Clusaz this week, Callum Sutton! Callum currently works as a Specialist Critical Care Paramedic with GWACC. He brings invaluable PHEM experience from his time with the London Ambulance Service.
