π₯π From Farm to Fridge: Following the Journey of Benna Milk π²πΉπ±
As part of our βLetβs Talk Farmingβ project, the children of Year 6 explored the fascinating journey of Benna milk from the farm to our homes through a creative and imaginative writing activity. ππ₯
The students first learned about the important role of Maltese dairy farmers π, how cows are cared for πβ€οΈ, the milking process π₯, and the journey milk takes from local farms to the Benna dairy for processing and packaging. They also discussed the importance of supporting local agriculture π²πΉπΎ, making healthy food choices ππ₯, and adopting sustainable habits such as recycling β»οΈ and reducing waste π.
Inspired by their learning, the children wrote diary entries from the perspective of a milk carton πβοΈ. Through their creative stories, they brought the carton to life, describing its experiences from being filled at the dairy ππ₯ and transported to supermarkets π, to becoming part of family breakfasts ππ₯, school lunches π, and everyday routines. Some pupils even imagined what happened when the carton was forgotten in the fridge βοΈ or carefully recycled after use β»οΈ.
This engaging activity allowed students to strengthen their creative writing skills βοΈ, enrich their vocabulary π, and develop a deeper appreciation of the hard work and dedication of local farmers π©βπΎπ¨βπΎ who provide fresh dairy products for our community. It also encouraged them to reflect on how responsible choices, such as reducing waste π and recycling β»οΈ, can help protect the environment and support a more sustainable future π±.
By connecting farming with daily life πβ‘οΈπ , the project helped students gain a greater understanding of where their food comes from π₯π, while fostering creativity π¨, environmental awareness π, and respect for Maltaβs farming community π²πΉβ€οΈ. A wonderful example of learning that is both meaningful and enjoyable! βππ Let's Talk Farming Programme Edukazzjoni Agrikoltura
