I often get asked why I choose education as my profession and the reason behind it all is that it simply keeps me young at heart and full of motivation. Several individuals are curios why my students are all so happily messy even when they are wearing aprons (promise they do) but yet so responsible for their tender age. How many broken bottles have we seen in our lifetime as educators?

The answer is endless!

But this is a reminder that such incidents occur not due to negligence but because they are still in a learning phase of trial and error.

Yes I get the annoyance of wet bags, spilled water everywhere and the challenges that we face in trying to fix it ourselves.

In my case I have learnt to use this as a learning opportunity. Nothing staged, nothing predetermined and of course nothing short of learning.

🪑We sit together, 🫶assess the situation, 🔍identity the whole scenario, 🗣discuss problem solving ideas and carry on by implementing the next step. 😉It is not worth your stress nor your panic. This drives further anxieties. Stay calm, collective and careful of your next move. Your reactions will impact what comes next.

💭 Kinder 1 or Kinder 2?

Here is a question I get asked very frequently 👇

🙋🏻‍♀️ "Which year group do you prefer teaching? Kinder 1 or Kinder 2?"

The honest answer is that I truly have NO 🙅preferred year GROUP and the simple reason behind it is because both ✌️ year groups offer different and unique opportunities.
🎉Teaching K1:
You are their first kindergarten teacher 🎈, their first hello 👋 to the school, the first educator to instill love 😍 for schooling. You are there for their first hellos and their first heart breaks 💔 . You are their for the little accidents 😢, their endless joy ☺ and remarkable talents🕺. You are not biased because you don't know them. No one can tell 👥 you anything about them because you are the first person to get the lucky 🍀 straw of meeting someone new for the first time ever. You get to be the first 😊 to know about their likes 👍 and dislikes👎. The first to pave their way for exploration and the first they would love.

Yes you get the sheer toilet 🚽 accidents more frequently, yes you get the spills during lunch 🥣 breaks, yes you get to see the most awkward things😏 ever but being there for it all is perfect because YOU are there for it all💕.
🎉Teaching K2:
They are somewhat older 😆, more wiser😛, cheekier🤪 and easier to take off from where they left off in K1. You get more conversations🔉, dialogues 📣and discussions📯. You receive more information directly from the students 👫 and they engage longer in activities. They are eager to express 🗣️themselves and it is easier for anyone to fall in love ❤️ with them. You will be their mentor and life motivator. You will be a stepping stone 💕to what comes next. You will be their next hello 👋 but last goodbye 😢 in kindergarten. You will be able to celebrate kindergarten milestones together. Bid farewell 👋 before primary years. Cry 😭 tears of joy with them, be proud with them 🥰 and let them go🥲.

Yes you will get more smirks😏, know it all 😉and heartbreaks 💔. Yes you would get louder 🔊 and more energy ⚡ but everything is perfectly perfect 🌈 because you made it possible for them to do so at the end!

🌹 Whether it is k1 or k2 I truly don't mind 🤷🏻‍♀️ what year group I am in.

I'm on edge to meet my next crew, my next munchkins, my next ball of energy.

Throughout the scholastic year you may come across posts for research participants.

This is my intake: Try it... you might be surprised at how some research teaches you about new strategies, different pedagogies and above all innovation.

I am one who does not mind being in research. It is another way how I learn, reflect and follow up on my own pedagogy.

Anyone else looking at photos trying to imagine how to set up the class for the next scholastic term?

The waiting time of knowing where your next adventure will lead is daunting BUT your wheels keep turning constantly as an ECEC practitioner, yet alone knowing how very little time we all have to set up this scholastic year is a buzzkill too!

Oh the joy of explorers and me explaining to the parents!!!! 🤪

Luckily it was a play on events.... student was excited to get a haircut after school, so decided to take matters in own hands beforehand.

Thankfully it was a slight trim and the parent giggled!
