Hippotherapy Malta

Unfortunately we don't have good news for our stallion Robson 🥺 Due to physical issues which he appears to be suffering from, together with our vet we have decided that Robson will not be fit to travel and therefore won't be rehomed abroad as we would have hoped. It is very likely that he will have to remain with us as was the case for so many horses that we didn't believe would handle the travelling and life in the UK very well due to physical issues or other medical reasons. This is partly the reason why we have around 80 horses in our care because while we rehome as many as possible abroad there are always horses which we cannot rehome abroad and therefore they remain with us as it is also almost impossible to rehome them locally especially if they cannot be ridden 💔
We will keep you updated on his progress. We are currently working through a list of supplements to see if we can find something to help his condition🥲

I am an MCAST student currently studying for a BSc in Animal Management and Veterinary Nursing. I am in the process of writing my dissertation, which is about the effectiveness of hippotherapy in alleviating sensory and motor difficulties in people with neurological disorders. The aim of this study is to help in promoting hippotherapy across the Maltese Islands, by portraying easy-to-understand results from the study, which could be used to compare the effectiveness of hippotherapy in alleviating sensory and motor difficulties in people with different neurological disorders.



If you would like to participate in this research, a link to an online form is provided hereunder. Participating in this research study will require you to send a copy of the attached questionnaire to hippotherapy clients, so that information may be gathered regarding any improvements seen in hippotherapy patients and what enabled said improvements. It should be noted that participants’ identities and other personal or confidential data will not be divulged throughout the time that this research will be occurring and after. This includes confidential business ideas and data, which will be protected and not divulged so that no business will be harmed due to the implementation of this research.

Why are our feed bills so high? Main reason being that stuff the horses have their heads tucked into 😰 The price of a big hay bale went up from €180 to €220 😔 Malta having no grazing means horses rely solely on the hay we give them for forage. 5 horses eat a large hay bale in 5 days. Unless we manage to get more people sponsoring horses and manage to raise more money we are not going to manage to keep up with these huge increases in prices 💔
